Arriving in a crumpled brown paper package, with a hand written address and no return details, this datapad was delivered to subscribers of Herdalife, a now revealed illegal pyramid scheme perpetrated during the Herd Fest event held in Year 25. During the event, numerous sentients met with, and were charmed by an eloquent and loquacious Ithorian female, purporting to provide a great investment opportunity with large returns. These investors were promised a starter kit which would set them on their way to fame and fortune, and while the sceptics among the crowd pointed out that this opportunity resembled nothing more than a glamorous pyramid scheme, numerous sentients invested almost twenty million credits in the scheme.
Instead of the expected instructions to starting a successful Herdalife business, the datapad contains an audiobook narrated by an Ithorian government employee, one Frond Isfrutus, detailing simple lessons on avoiding financial scams such as pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes and such. The audiobook contains such pithy phrases such as “Always look a gift falumpaset in the mouth”, “The Road to riches is long and hard”, “short sighted pursuit of wealth leads to long term poverty” and “the money tree takes a long time to grow, watered by effort and planning”. The datapad is accompanied by a photocopy of a handwritten note from Vyna Soli mocking the recipient in terms such as “smart as a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard”, “slow as a fambaa” and “damp as a Gungan swamp”. The note ends with the writer stating that since she has successfully liberated credits from the recipient, she is sending them this audiobook to help them avoid similar cons in the future, as their continued gullibility would reflect poorly on her skill as a trickster.
