Yet another reason why the forums desperately need the option to delete individual posts. I really don't see why Khan is so adamant against this; it would allow us to greatly reduce the spam content of forums without having to delete entire threads or lock them prematurely.
On the other hand, I can see the argument that when debates about say, OOF a/e come up, you don't want somebody able to delete certain people's opinions
Well, the last time a controversial topic was posted, rather than deleting a select few posts, the entire thing was scrapped.. At least the other way those players could simply re-post their comments. :P Bit easier that way than it would be to lose the entire thread.
Besides, in theory the only people who should have mod access to forums should be those trusted not to abuse it in the first place. And if they do, remove that access.
If possible maybe make it so when a post is deleted, it lists who deleted it and makes you fill out a reason as to why? That would remain in the topic as a shadow, showing who was the original poster.
In the post above, the poster deleted his own post and left behind the reason. Same thing happens when mods delete posts, but I'm not digging through it to find examples :P
1) Showdown - Does it slow the Combine down or cause unnecessary queries
2) Design - An annoying icon would quickly make it hated. If anything, maybe just a small red/green "light"
