I have been tasked with getting a fighter off of a ship that it docked with, the larger ship is on the ground on a planet, i have landed on the same spot as the larger ship and have no idea how i can dock with it to get the second ship off. Any help would be appreciated.

Also , I can board the larger ship while walking.

In that case, simply enter the other ship, walk to the docking bay, enter the docked ship and undock it. There is really no need to dock your current ship into the other ship (which most likely isn't possible, since your current ship isn't on the list of allowed ships to dock).
