I'm considering donating via Paypal, you certainly deserve it for the hours of entertainment I get out of this place.
I do not have a Paypal account. The Paypal button on the Support the Combine page gives me the option to pay with credit card or login to Paypal. I'm loath to do the former because I don't want to give my number online. I cannot do the latter as I don't have an account. How do I get one?
Um... go to www.paypal.com site and sign up for an account?
They pretty much make it easy to use a credit card. Maybe even checking account. Although I think you can do other things like prepay for pay pal. Or, at least you used to be able to do so in the past anyway, and that would probably be the safest option given your concerns.

You're going to be giving PayPal either your bank account number or your credit card anyway when you sign up, so what's the problem with just paying via credit card in the first place?
The biggest difference is that you have a choice with paypal where it comes out of. My husband and I have a paypal account set up with 2 separate bank accounts and a credit card, And when either of us make donations to the combine we can pick where it comes out of.
Very nice when I want to use my Mad money account for things like combine. It also means I don't have to enter my numbers more than once. Since I use paypal to pay for everything I don't have to worry about some phishing site getting that information, all they will get at best is the money I tell paypal to give them.
A lot of banks now have specific online accounts you can use at no additional cost if you already have a checking account with them. It uses a different account and card number, and that way you can just transfer a certain amount of money into the account to use online. I don't believe they allow the account to be overdrafted, but you would probably have to check with the bank about that. That is probably the best solution if you want to make online purchases or donate to places like SWC and don't want to give out your real credit card or bank information online.
You can also try the Citizens Bank of Canada. They give you prepaid Visa's that are temporary. So you go to Safeway (example) find their gift card section. Look for prepaid visa or something similar. There will probably be like $100, $50, $25 cards. Say you buy the $25 one you pay about $28 and now you have a visa. You follow the activation instructions then use it where you would donate with a credit card. That's what I do. You dont even have to use your real name.
EDIT: There are probably other prepaid visa things out there too.
