I was wondering if there's any way to make a custom NPC script that will tell a ship passenger the ship's current ETA. If so, what would I type in to do that? And if not, any chance that feature might be added? :p

To display the ETA, while you are in the room where you want the passengers to see the ETA, edit the room description and use the %ETA% tag in the description, such as: %ETA% until arrival.

He wanted to know if it was possible to get a custom type NPC to do that, Syn. And as Syn said, the variable for that information is %ETA%, but to answer your question: I don't think that it is possible for an NPC to do that, those variables only work in room descriptions.

I knew about the room description option (although I didn't know the formula so thanks for posting that). I just thought it would be more interesting to have people ask my NPC for the information. Shucks. :p

Well, if you want to suggest that being possible, you're very welcome to do so. There's a whole NPC Team that takes suggestions on how to improve the NPC system. So, go check out the Suggestions Forum in the Message Centre. There, you can suggest the variables use in the custom type NPC script.

Hey! Thanks for the link! I'd always just assumed that rooms are just rooms so I never thought to look at that page. Makes me wonder what else I don't know... :p

I think I will post this in the suggestions anyway though. It would be kinda nice from a roleplaying perspective.
