I'm attempting to begin my first ever production run in my factory. I've read the rules, have the required mats, got the datacard, assigned the faction, am standing in the control room, and have assigned the NPC workers to the faction.
Yet I get the following error message when initiating the production:
Gooday sir,
We've experienced some problems in carrying out your latest order. We've compiled this list of problems for you, please let us know how you wish to proceed.
D`Este Realty no longer has the correct documents certifying them as vehicle producers.
Regards,
Senior Project Manager
Factory
Now my faction possess the datacard for building groundhogs so I don't understand why I got this message. Can anyone help me determine what is wrong?
“I've read the rules, have the required mats, got the datacard, assigned the faction, am standing in the control room, and have assigned the NPC workers to the faction.”
He's already done so. I was actually trying to help him move along rather than repeat what he had already performed.
Indeed you must assign a valid faction as manager then either have an operator who is a member of that faction assigned or the owner of the factory (in this case me) must join the proper faction and be operator.
I don't see why anyone who is a private individual want to buy a factory if you can't use it to produce anything. I think that's totally unrealistic that I need an authorised operator assigned to the factory. I should be able to run my own damn factory if I have the DC and the proper faction is assigned as manager.
poo poo and flame away but really how is someone supposed to get ahead in the galaxy who is not the member of proper factions?
“really how is someone supposed to get ahead in the galaxy who is not the member of proper factions?”
You aren't. You're supposed to actually interact with others, and use the appropriate factions for the appropriate activities. You aren't SUPPOSED to do everything on your own.

I guess I knew that all along but it's frustrating when it comes to wait times for everything to fall into place. That's why I was a bit testy there earlier and I apologise for that.
Still, my conclusion is that investing in factories for your personal inventory is not worth it IMO from a ROI point of view. You're better off buying and selling ships and real estate.
Keeping factories in your personal (/non-production faction) inventory, like mines, allows you absolute control over them and their end products, and allows you to quickly and easily change managing groups if you have a problem with the one you're using. But yes, probably not worth it in terms of ROI.
