I downloaded the mIRC client and set everything up the way the guide suggests. But all I get is this.
* Connecting to irc.swcombine.com (6667)
-
-irc.swcombine.com- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
-irc.swcombine.com- *** Checking Ident
-
-irc.swcombine.com- *** Found your hostname
-
Then it never connects. It just sits there and eventually shuts the program down. Any suggestions?
Sounds like a problem with your internet connection; make sure if you have a firewall, that it's allowing the program and the port. You can also try connecting to irc.swc-irc.com or using a different port (oprn ports: 1080, 5000, 5555, 6660-6670, 8080), in case that helps.
I tried changing ports. I've checked my firewall. Unless I missed something...it should work. But it won't. It always says the same thing.

Oh I did. I tried all the ports. I used 1080, 5000, 5555, 6660-6670, 6667, and 8080. I just thought it would be pointless to post up each individual instance because it all says the same thing. The only thing that changes is what port it says I used.
Maybe its a router if you use one. I know we had a router that prevented the use of ptp programs unless you deactivated something - that could be your issue if it really is not working.
You could also try the various java IRC programs that some faction sites/forums have, see if that gets around your issue.
I had no problems with my router (and I have changed nothing)... it doesn't make sense that it started today when I have not altered any setting on my PC.
EDIT: It has to be my computer, sorry to be a bother. Laptop connected fine.

Johnny, if you cannot connect to other servers or with other clients, then I suppose it's a problem with your internet connection or your firewall (most likely the second one). Have you tried using the java chat client on SWC's chat page?
I have tried the java based ones from different websites. I have tried uninstalling and deleteing every irc file I have on my computer than reinstalling one. I have tried messing with my firewall (even turned it off to see if it would work). I have messed with my router. Nothing. I get nothing. It's rather frustrating lol.
