Two Questions:

1. With Space Stations, it says you can move about once you've started construction. Do the materials have to stay in the same place?

2. What is the total weight of the materials needed to build a Luxury Space Colony.

Approximate 82,000 tons.

Once you start any construction/production, the materials are used up and disappear. If you abort you can get some of them back, but there is no need to worry about storing the mats once cosntruction is going.
