What happens to the NPC pilot droids?

Year 13 Day 149, 18:01 RX-264 has boarded the Starport Bloodthrone Spacelines Prime from the StarSpeeder 3000 Star Tours.

I had one show up in my starport and its still there. Will it ever leave?

Sounds like a bug as it should remain on the ship and be destroyed when it is. THough I wonder if a player could add the droid to their party since its NPC owned, and then be kicked off when they are.
