How does the glactic position of systems relate to the distance between them. Yes I inderstand A2+B2=C2. What is the distance scale used? 1 LY per units?

Actually we don't believe in Pythagoras around here - a diagonal is considered the same as a straight horizontal/vertical line in terms of travel time.

The trouble with this is that we don't have a set means of determining distances, and it's kind of a moot point since we don't use any sort of units for distance. We just use grids, and you can see yourself how many grids away something is from another point.
