Year 10 Day 299 9:08
I was just ripped out of hyper, well, about two hours ago. I was en route to a deepspace location and passed through a system when my ship just fropped out of hyper. Needless to say I was baffled, but moreso that, despite not seeing any planets/staion/ships anywhere in the system, when I tried to get back into hyper, it wouldn't let me because I was in a gravity well. I undocked one of my ETA-2s and as soon as I undocked, the system information came up. However, there was a gravity well with no planet in its center. Is this just a glitch or did I do something wrong?

Have you gone to check the center of the gravity well in your ETA-2? It could be that you stumbled upon an Imperial Interdictor, though seems odd that one would be in the middle of deep space.

An active interdictor would be the only valid reason why you dropped out of hyperspace like that. If the system you're in is "The Maw", I suggest you don't check out the centre of the gravity well, as that's most likely a black hole.

Additionally, is it possible that you entered one of your ETA-2s while you were in hyperspace?

Here is the full story. I was en route to my deep space station location, and the ship I'm using, a Bayonet Light Cruiser, had reached the correct Y co-ordinate and was proceeding to the correct X co-ord. As I passed through 141, -152 (I'm 90% sure that's where it was) I dropped out of hyper for no aparent reason. The system is controlled by FF, so I doubt it was Empirial hardware, unless some deal went down I don't know about or I'm politically in the dark. Furthermore, I noticed it was a largeer than normal gravity well. I'm not sure how much bigger, but it was.

To answer your question, no I could not have undocked my ETA whilst in hyper. I was in the cokpit in when it happened. Furthermore, I'm on a tight schedule at the moment, and did not hang around to explore. Sorry for my lack of curiosity, but I had no idea what it was, if it was a figment of the computer's imagination, or some other third thing. I hope this information helps.

Not to worry, i'm en route to investigate this hyperspace anomaly.

You could find out where it was for sure in your Cockpit logs or events, I think...

You didn't answer that. If you were in your bayo and then entered your ETA that was docked, without having the right droid in the cockpit etc, then your ship will abort hyper.

And grav wells have no standard size - they are based on the size of the planet/sun, so some have the grav well just on their square, while others will have it stretchedout further.

I was in the bayo's cockpit the entire time. I don't walk around while i'm in hyper. I just sit in the cockpit and twifddle my thunbs. As regards grav well size, that's nice to know. All the grav wells i seem to come across are pretty uniform in size. Oh well, I learn as i go I guess :)

He did answer it, Ellias, if you read his response closer.

Which could've been either the bayo or ETA's cockpit depending on how you read that.

*chants* FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT....Really? C'mon. Any ideas what it could be? There was othing in the center f the gravity well, at least that I could see. My most plausible explanation is just that the cockpit display was fuzzed when I was on at that moment.

Ideas?
1.) You could just be making it up...

Year 10 Day 299 22:19
If you were in a Bayonet-class Light Cruiser when it happened, then you should have seen any interdictor with your sensors. If you saw nothing on your scanners, then it's possible that the interdictor left after it pulled you out, who knows why. Were you online when you were pulled out of hyper? If not, then the interdictor probably saw you and left before you logged in. If you were online, chances are that the interdictor's pilot wouldn't have been able to react fast enough to flee before you saw it.

So, were you online when pulled out of hyper?

Year 10 Day 300 0:43
As has already been stated, check your cockpit events in the Bayo. They should contain at least one that is relevant to the incident, namely the one that tells you that you've entered hyperspace (including the target coordinates). Finally, check your personal events whether you received any XP for the travel.

Year 10 Day 298, 1:45 The ship has been violently pulled out of hyperspace. Your NavComp does not report any damage.
Year 10 Day 293, 21:34 The computer confirms the coordinates to (-244, -152) and you engage the hyperdrive motivator.

That's what I founfd in the ships log. I had been out of hyper for about 4 hours when I signed in next. And no, I'm not making it up. I'm not the kind of jerk who gets his thrills messing up other peoples lives and wasting their time.

And you haven't received any XP for that travel?

It was actually pointed out to me the other day that travel that is halted by being ripped out of hyperspace doesn't give you any XP, even if you're on the tail end of a 2-week trip.

Year 10 Day 300 8:02
something 'similar' to this ... I aborted in deep space once, and saw a gravity well over in the corner of the system. Since I was in a ship with only sensors of 1, I didn't investigate. So, ... I have seen gravity wells in deep space. It was only the size of a comet's signature though.

I recieved no XP. I was also wondering, since all this came up, how do you tell if you found a "hidden system"? I've been told they exist, but would something like this, or like what Zao described, constitute the possibility of finding a hidden system?

You would see the planets in the system, not just the gravity wells. At least, that has been my experience.
