I've been inactive for a couple months so I'm a bit in the dark about goings on in Darkness these days. Has some size limit been imposed on character bios?

I only ask because I just tried editing my bio and it seems to be getting cut off at the end. I actually deleted a few lines so it wasn't any longer than it used to be and yet it always displayed fine before. I'm just curious as to whether this is a bug or something else.

Ys, it was reduced for some reason in the last few months. Not much you can do about it I'm afraid.

Any way you could get it corrected back to the old way?

Hmm, so not only does my character exceed the weight restrictions on vehicles, but now my bio is over the limit too. Discrimination I tell you! :p

I have no idea who changed it. I would guess was part of one of the syncs but can't tell you if it was deliberate or just a side affect of something else. Best to either hope a coder sees this that can do something about it, make a bug report, or ask a coder nicely.

It's not a coder thing, it's a DB field size thing, more than likely.

Well Hal, coders change the DB - don't think anyone else has access to change it.

Pretty sure not all coders can just run whatever queries they like to change the tables, Ellias. It'd probably be Sin or Vey. Maybe Clarr, but he'd probably just say to talk to Vey or Sin.

Both the description and bio fields were changed to 12288-max character strings. Don't know who did it and it's not really important, but we do probably need to look into a way to change it back to something longer.

Yeah, I'd like to put my bio back up even if I'm not important enough that anyone would read it anyway. :p
