Archives » Debris in my Mine and charged for cleanup....what???
Darian Dash
Darian Dash
Can anyone explain this to me?
I've never received this message before and can't find info while searching.

Year 11 Day 295, 15:31 You have sent 96,550 credits to the Local Safety Commision with the following message:
Cost clearing the debris out of Mine Dash mine [Rud-13k] (ID: 979864)

The mine recently had the operator unassigned , was powered down , madeover (to the original operator) , that same operator reassigned and the mine powered back up.

At the end of the cycle , this message was received.

Just one of the joys of operating a mine.

Darian Dash
Darian Dash
Is it a random thing or caused by something/action that was done?

Mainly random.

I read the rules , but as usual interpreted them wrong.

I thought a mine collapse is what happens when the mine is fully depleted and a random number says there is nothing new found.

I have LIN droids in production right now that should stop this hopefuly then.

How common is it for a new resource to be found?
Maths/algebra isn't my strong point :p

Do you get a notice that there is a new type of RM found on the slab?

I see from the rules that you can only mine 1 type of RM at a time ,
but if another type has been found , do you have the option of which to mine for?

I guess it's better to mine slowly on all your deposits of the same type , rather than pick 1 to drain first.
The longer they are all going , the more chances you have at the random number saying a new resource has been found.

Uh...from top to bottom;

-Common; depends on grid type.

-The mining faction gets a notice if a new vein is found.

-You don't find other types. 'a new deposit found' just means an increase in the existing deposit size in this case, not a new type.

-Not applicable.

-Yes, if you don't have any particular mining needs, it is indeed better to slowly mine with the optimal amount of LIN droids.

Thanks for the help , it's cleared up a lot about the mining rules.
A few more Q's though if i may , feel free to give the short answers too :)

My mines are owned by my RM's manager who is a member of a mining faction.
He owns and operates and the faction manages.

Who would get the notice of a new deposit being found in this case?

My mines are all on rock or cave so good chance of new deposits judging by the % for the terrain.

Whats the optimal amount of LIN droids per mine? and dirthaulers for that matter (i use 8)

My mines have a max yield , but never extract that much if set that high.

Is this to do with planetary factors like crime etc?

They also don't repeat even when set to.

Do i need to setup my dirthaulers different?
At the moment , we own and operate , faction manages.

The faction gets notices.

One Lin droid is fine, as far as I am aware. (never tried anything else, though)

Why would you set it to the listed yield if you want the max, just set it to 0. It's probably to do with crime, morale, or the random factor, yes.

When not owned by a mining faction I think a mine repeats when
-it's set to repeat (har har)
-the mine is managed by a mining faction (obviously)
-the operator belongs to that mining faction
-the NPCs are owned by the mine owner

You're a legend :)

I'll makeover my dirthaulers to the faction and hopefully that will work.

My Mel mine says it can extract about 17,000 max but only ever mines about 7500.

If i set it to 0 will it auto extract what it can?
I've been too worried i'll get no RM's that week if i set it to 0

Will you be able to see the deposit size grow on the mine stats page if a new deposit has been found?

It'd be easier to monitor that than ask the faction to keep watching for me :)

Teyacapan Quetzalxochitl
Teyacapan Quetzalxochitl
If the mine owner is the faction then that should be fine, yes.

I missed your NPC question last time around; there is no optimal amount. If you want to extract the maximum yield, use the maximum amount of NPCs. (twelve)

If you're worried about the amount extracted, just check the progress bar after starting it, that amount is close to the actual extracted value. (barring collapses)

Yes, the deposit size is updated after extraction. You can see how much a collapse has cost you or if a new deposit is found there, if you keep records.

Thanks again for all your help.

I see there's a lot more to mining than i though.

I think I understand it all now and anything else i need to know in future , i'll be able to interpret the rules properly.

Actually , lucky last.

Does the mine have to be extracting , powered with a worker to be eligible to find a new deposit?

Or can i just leave it powered with no workers when there's a few 100 units left in the deposit and try to "grow more"?

Teyacapan Quetzalxochitl
Teyacapan Quetzalxochitl
It only checks when extracting.
