When did the rule change that you can only be in one faction at a time.

"We allow people to be in the Sith Order and be a member of another faction. They have to be part of the organization of the group, but they are allowed to remain and act in any other positions, of any other corporations or governments in the Galaxy."

The server only recognizes you to be a member of a single faction. That doesn't stop you from working with other people or even other factions. Simply think of it like being member of faction A and doing some stuff for the NFG X, just that X is - in this case - faction B.

I understand what you're saying, and I know that there's no problem with that scenario you suggest. but the actual faction says you can be a member of another faction. Would this be a typing error or a missed informing error by the faction?

And would the spying rules also be put to play in this instants .

There is no error.

You can be a member of another group just as you can be a citizen of another government. You may not be able to do anything in darkness, but that does not change your status to the members. Only the server recognizes boundaries between factions, and they are not speaking about the server on an In-Character page.

You should read rules about spying before you mention them. For example, in section 2/ You May :

"Have members working within or without your group whose task is to infiltrate/spy on other groups or factions."

Who said anything about spying? They are a religious faction. They are just saying that you can be a member of the religion without actually being in the faction. Which makes sense.

So that is why i quoted from rules that talk about that subject.

First off let me say I thank you all for trying to help me out through my question, but I'm still a little confused with the language of the statement

Which means they want you to join their faction and you can still join another faction. but if I read the rules correctly you can't do that. That is why I'm asking currentlyare they in error in that statement.

So this part means that they can join The Sith Order and still work at their old jobs at their old factions as freelancers,"factions Associates," or does it mean that they stay in their old faction. And part of a secret organization in bedded in their original faction distributing information to other members of the secret organization, that they tell no one about in their original faction that they belong to.

Technically, you can only be in one faction in darkness. However, you can have citizenship or membership in any faction which allows it.

For example, I am physically in White Star. However, I have citizenship with The Avance Coalition despite not being in the physical faction. The Trade Federation offers non-faction citizenship. As do other factions.

INdeed, the game only allows you to physically be in one faction at a time. They are just saying that they will allow you to count as a member for using their foums etc even if you are in another faction - you just wouldn't be classfied as in their faction on the server.

So in a sense is a Association with a different faction from your main faction in darkness, and each faction that you are associated with understands that you are part of another faction and is totally open with this fact.

This is very interesting, but I have a question if the faction that you are associating with is a Secret organization by it�s nature and does not discuss their associates who are in other factions, and the associates in other factions do not discuss this with their main faction. And the main faction has no clue that they have people in them that have loyalties to a another faction, would this not be a problem in the game.

Hypothetically for example. if there is a member in the Eidola Pirates who is an associate of The Sith Order and had received ill-gotten booty from the Galactic Empire in a convoluted way as a reward for certain services that was rendered to their secret organization that they are associated with. would that be illegal in the game.

Or hypothetically again if there is a high-ranking member of the Falleen Federation who is also a member of this Secret organization, that the Falleen Federation has given responsibility to run certain departments in their behalf. And uses this position to further the views of said secret organization. with this be illegal


Now remember these are all hypotheticals and I'm just asking questions

It is fine - spying, lying, doing backroom deals etc are all within the bounds of the game. So long as you don't break the rules that deal with such stuff (see the spying section of the rules) it is all fine.
