If it was an NPC then no they are gone forever and ever. PCs will drop what they have when you arrest them so when you kill them they dont have anything on them.

PCs drop what's in their hands when you arrest them*, PCs drop the rest, iirc, when executed. As for looting the "NPC", have you tried accessing NPC Control while in the same room as the target NPC?

Pardon the typo, I meant PCs. I have a dead PC that has my gear still equipped to them.

You can contact admins and have the dead PC (now a lost soul npc type) made over to you if it is within an entity that you own. Then you can equip/unequip how you see fit.

It is either a In Active PC (which you can arrest and execute to make them drop the items) or it is a Lost Soul, which in a NPC and you can contact an Asmin and maybe have it made over to you. Then have the NPC drop the items by the interface. If it is an owned NPC you could contact the owner and maybe buy it. But there is no such thing as a "dead" PC that you can see a fit out too.

Lost souls are not dead. It's a previous PC who has now become an NPC, and he/she is alive and well. Not dead. I usually contact Ellias Aubec to get lost souls assigned to me. Just send a DM, tell him the name of the lost soul and include your character ID #. You have to be at the same position / in the same room as the lost soul.

ps. Not dead.

If it is a lost soul, you can arrest the NPC and drop him/her in a bacta tank. That way the eqiupment the NPC carries will drop.

Lost Souls, just send me their name and your character id and I'll make it over and you can then unequip them. You don't have to be in the same location - I have no way to tell that, but obviously if you want to move them or recover items you will need to be with them.

So anyone can just claim whatever famous PC drops no matter who they are or where they're located? So long as we know the PC has become a Lost Soul, we can just "call dibbs"? This seems pretty shady...

As long as it is not already owned. Otherwise they are just ownerless NPCs hanging around in ships and buildings.

You can claim it if you have access to the lost soul (it's under arrest by you, on a ship owned by you, at your position, whatever). The tools aren't coded in such a way to restrict makeovers or display locations to Ellias, but if this gets abused by people requesting to own npcs to which they don't have access and shouldn't own, those people will be displeased with the consequences. :)

^

Presumably the person who has said NPC in their own ships etc would be the first to realise they had dropped. I doubt someone on the other side of the galaxy would find out first (granted this is bar the player that dropped telling anyone...).

If people start complaining that lost souls on their ships are becoming owned by other people in large quantities, I would have to ask the devs to make a tool that allows me to see who owns the entity it is in.

With some arrests that was done last month, I noticed the prisoners did not drop the items in their hands. They were still fully equipped. Not sure if they changed it that way of was a bug.

It would be a bug. The player has to drop the items in their hands inorder for the cuffs to be placed on them.
