Date: Year 21 Day 127 Onboard the Executor-class Star Destroyer Relentless in system Calast (320, -230).

CALAST VIII (INB) - A spokesman for Grand Moff Inwe Ventidius has announced the Galactic Empire will be withdrawing its personnel from systems of low strategic and economic importance throughout the recently annexed territory. The list of systems to be abandoned by the Empire in the coming weeks include Issor, Obana, Pii, and Tatoo systems.

Defending the Galactic Empire’s decision, Adjutant Sarah Farren outlined a narrative setting the Empire’s massive and sudden expansion of territory as being nigh impossible to manage successfully without the local populations wanting peace. “The Emperor warned us all of the dangers of those with poisoned minds and a lust for war. These cowardly agitators choose not to meet the Empire on a battlefield, but rather incite fear and violence among low-intelligence populations.

Plotting recent events for the withdrawal of Imperial forces from Abrion, Danjar, Sluis, and Mayagil sectors, Adjutant Farren detailed the subversive tactics in use by both the re-emerged Rebel Alliance and the invading Resistance. By actively targeting the large proportion of poorly educated and often desperate Class C citizens of each planet’s population, the incited violence has been widespread enough to thin out Imperial peacekeeping forces. This enabled small and medium strike-forces to isolate and slaughter Imperial peacekeeping outposts and patrols in detail.

For the Safety of Others

Explaining the abandonment of worlds often referred to as “back-water” by the broader galaxy, the spokesman identified “It is important in response to these cowardly tactics, the Empire re-assess the cost in personnel, material, and effort to keep the peace on worlds which have no strategic or military value”. The consolidation of the Empire’s presence is anticipated to allow for increased security and stability while enabling the Empire to have the flexibility to project forces without increased burdens on already extended supply-lines.

In comparison to the central and more developed regions, the annexed territories have been considered a burden by the citizens of the Empire. The ongoing need to route materials, medical supplies, and security forces to the region at the expense of the Core regions is subject to much debate and discussion within the upper-echelons of the Imperial government, including Imperial High Command. There has been a steady call from economists and political commentators to ‘remove the blessings of the Emperor’ from those worlds that fail to govern themselves effectively, and keep the peace during such a fragile time.

Distant Slums

Denouncing claims of widespread military defeats, Adjutant Farren pointed to the recent success in governing arrangements overseen by the Faerytail Family in Trax, Myrtaranor and Ghost Nebula sectors, and the Empire in the Marasa Nebula and Ehosiq sectors where there are no reports of resistance or hostilities. This state of play seemingly reinforces recent statements by the Sub-Adult Group (SAG) of COMPNOR who recently announced a study showing there was less violence and crime on worlds dominated by human populations, such as those found throughout the core.

As the Empire prepares to consolidate its forces within the annexed regions, the populations of the Issor, Obana, Pii, and Tatoo systems rapidly begin preparations to establish new self-governing bodies for their worlds. Many eyes from across the galaxy will be upon these systems, deemed by Imperial High Command to be of no value and beyond any chance of economic revitalisation. Exactly what will become of such worlds is subject to much speculation with the news, with most economists and strategic analysts predicting dire outcomes, or near-immediate resettlement and oppression by the Galactic Alliance.
