Jedi Medical Interdicted, Tresario Officer Arrested For Attempted Smuggling, Conspiracy
Posted by: Alven Ceres, Jedi Academy
Date: Year 15 Day 181 From the Temple Dagobah Enclave in Enclave Grounds on Dagobah (59, -390).

CLEARED BY JEDI COUNCIL

JEDI ACADEMY

OSSUS (JA P&P.R DIVISION) - Martijn Plagius, an officer of the Tresario Star Kingdom military, was arrested yesterday on suspicions of having conspired with the current de facto holders of Jedi Medical to smuggle assets out of Ossus.

The Tresarian's ship was spotted by ground-based surveillance facilities during a canvassing of orbiting vessels, and was consequently flagged for inspection. The Order was moved to take direct action however, when sources were able to implicate that Junior Lieutenant Plagius was there to retrieve materials and assets from Jedi Medical facilities.

Thus, Jedi Knight Wann Eras was dispatched to detain Plagius. Successfully maneuvering inside the Tresarian's ship, the Twi'lek was able to extract Plagius unharmed and concluded the episode without having to lament any casualties.

Jedi Medical, as explained in the press release published close to two months ago, was controlled by infiltrator Dorian Tecto and used as a platform for his schemes. The Sith Lord attempted to use the company as a bargaining chip in the matter of his release, but was rebuffed by the Jedi Council, who rate the rule of law and justice higher than they do what assets Jedi Medical might contain within.

This does not mean, however, that the Jedi will not do their utmost to protect what they consider to be their property, despite of it being in the hands of Tecto collaborators.

When questioned on the matter, Councilor Russ Leman had the following to say. "The Jedi Order follows any movements within the borders of its territory, and, pertinent to this case, in the vicinity of Ossus. We will do anything we can to prevent the loss of any further assets from Jedi Medical. We will intervene whenever possible. Jedi Medical is, at this point, considered to be held and managed by members of the Sith Order - criminals who refuse to hand over property which they do not own. As such, we advise that no business be done with them".

As a follow-up to the arrest of Plagius, the Jedi Order carried out an operation that was able to put a stop to all Jedi Medical activities in Ossus. With the help of local security personnel, agents were able to close down laboratories and Bacta refinement facilities in several different regions of the planet, taking into custody most implicated Jedi Medical workers. A mass round of questioning and interviews with the staff is scheduled to take place later this month, in order to gather important information pertaining to the shady executives of the company.

This last operation marks the death knell for the interdicted Jedi Medical. Its treasonous leader, Mitos Lau, is not expected to be able to keep the company from dissolving, though some suggest that he might attempt to fraudulently sell medical equipment that the Jedi Order has recovered. While no refunds will be made on these, Order authorities have expressed that they are willing to consider special cases.

As for the Tresarian Junior Lieutenant, given his state as a military man in one of the member governments of the Imperial Union, it is expected that he will undergo questioning to fully ascertain the scope of his intentions and any possible association with Jedi Medical. He will then face trial for the charges of conspiracy and attempted smuggling.

The relationship between Tresario and the Jedi Order has always been delicate and changing. While they were once allies together in the Galactic Alliance, they are now, after Tresario's regrettable defection to the Union, members of rival coalitions. It is expected then, due to the present circumstances, that tensions will soar.
