Welcome to another edition of the Sporting News.

KOTF SBL2 update.

After a furious three and a half month regular season the shockball playoffs have arrived. Out of a field of sixteen teams, six have advanced to the playoffs. A half billion credits donated by the Falleen Federation will be won or lost in the next three weeks.

In a surprising bit of dominance all three Falleen Federation teams have made the playoffs Artesian Argonauts, Falleen Federals, and Sizhran Sentinels. Both traveling wildcard teams came from the Varactyl division which was the toughest in division in shockball this season. Of the three teams that placed in last year’s Championship only the Falleen Federals have made the playoffs this year. Both the Derelkoos Dragons and the Hutt Space BlitzKrieg failed to make the playoffs this season. The BlitzKrieg have fired their coach after the abysmal season. The Boordii Steampunks are the most improved team last year they only won two games and this year they barely missed the playoffs.

The Artesian Argonauts have the league’s best record at twelve and one. There only loss came in a road game with the ten and three Shownar Shredder Bats. Both teams have clinched a first round bye week. In the final week of the regular season the Dathomir Rancors traveled to Sizhran Sentinels and fought to a draw. In week one of playoff action the Sizhran Sentinels will travel to the Dathomir Rancors. The fans of both clubs eagerly await the rematch to see who will advance in the playoffs. Also the Onshora Sand Twisters will travel to the Falleen Federals.

In other shockball news, following the “Spygate” story originally reported by the media KOTF SBL2 was rocked by allegations of holovid spying. The owner of the Asation Consglieres Alexander von Ismay was suspended for the remainder of the current season and for next year’s spring training for illegally holotaping rival teams practices and preparation for game day. The league office released a statement condemning the Spygate activities of the Asation Consglieres.

The league office has also announced that next year KOTF SBL3 will include four expansion teams.



Krieg’s Run Fourth Season update.

The inaugural race of the Fourth Season was hosted by the Trade Federation in Taanab. Avance Coalition rookie racer Tiaa Nefertiree stunned the racing circuit by dominating the first half of the race before falling to a third place finish. Last year’s Grand Champion Amaranth Kushiel won the race with her usual panache. Trade Federation racer Vash Thompson placed second after trailing Amaranth the entire race.

The second race was hosted by the Triumvirate Coalition in Pesmenben. Amaranth Kushiel took the early lead. Yet another Avance Coalition racer Tohar Xinn jostled into the lead for a short time before Amaranth retook the lead. After shadowing Amaranth for over a race and half Vash Thompson rocketed to victory winning the Krieg’s Run trophy and becoming the first racer to unseat Amaranth in over a year.

The third race of the season will be sponsored by Alliance Special Operations in Derra. Eighty-five million credits will be paid out to the top three racers. The race will start Year 16 Day 28 shortly before the start of the Death Hunt on Derra on day 36. The Death Hunt is a live safari with hunters harvesting various big game trophies to win the event.
