Ximaro Jix, the Zann Consortium's leader, survived an attempted apprehension by a New Republic Intelligence Agent following a Defiler orchestrated robbery of a New Republic armory.

The attempt to arrest the head of the rogue state marks the third time undercover agents of the New Republic government have failed to subdue the terrorist leader since the formation of Zann Consortium in year 13.

State intelligence sources disclosed that the attempt was spearheaded by Thrae Claddlyl, a Corellian male previously affiliated with Dread pirates and long under suspicion of being a New Republic spy.

In an effort to negotiate with Ximaro, Leebri Chelski of New Republic Intelligence [NRI] was recorded stating, "If you allow me to arrange collection of my guy [Claddlyl] with no harm coming to anyone, you have my word that for as long as I am Director of NRI, I will not pursue Zann."

Thali`a N`ightshade, spokeswoman and the lead covert operations instructor for Zann, told reporters, "Before Thrae was captured we had already identified him as an intelligence agent.  It was quite amusing to us that he failed to recruit members from both Dread and the Consortium itself, identifying himself in the process.  Thrae's incarceration was only a matter of time."

Zann Consortium Bvyeks, the title for its security specialists, observed Claddlyl attempting to spring a trap on Ximaro, but the assailant was quickly subdued without incident by the Crime Lord and his personal security.  The attempt occurred during a rigorous training exercise for recruits, in which the traitor reportedly became increasingly frustrated at being unable to lead Ximaro onto his ship where he intended to trap the leader.

Komoniic Greyson Abrams, second-in-command of the Zann Consortium, held a state news conference on day 240 stating, "Thrae Claddlyl is currently being transported to an undisclosed location where Commander Cedron Tryonel, Deputy Chief of Intelligence Operations, will retrieve the failed intelligence agent.  He has given his word of honor that the agreement will not be fractured in any way."

Anonymous New Republicans speculated that the attempt was a retaliation for the Consortium's successful attack days earlier in which a New Republic supply depot was robbed by a Defiler posing as an Army 2nd Lieutenant.  Sources went on to state that many Republic uniforms, E-11B rifles, and various other equipment and technology were stolen during the raid, while New Republic Army soldiers prepared to go on their mission to intercept the Imperial Union on the planet Serroco, an operation that has subsequently been halted due to internal security matters.

It is speculated that the New Republic has agreed to a peaceful resolution with the Zann Consortium leader due to their inability to combat the terrorist network with new Defilers revealing themselves and Republic citizens such as Akwow`hahc Geyy`oral and Tendo Reitek being corrupted by Zann's growing influence in the democratic government.  Akwow and Tendo were observed by NRI agents offering Zann Consortium their loyalty in exchange for some of the recently looted assets, which the rogue state declined.  So far, no official statements have been made by the intelligence department on how they plan to address their citizens' treacherous actions.
