Prizefighter Earns Record Amounts for Near-Core Planets
Posted by: Raoul Esparza, Ailon Nova Guard
Date: Year 18 Day 215 Onboard the MC-80a Star Cruiser A42 Hayley's Eagle in system n/a (121, -106).
History was made today when Jacque Keslov, fighter hired by Ailon Nova Guard, won his sixth consecutive championship among near-core systems and eclipsed the earning level of ten billion galactic credits in prize winnings, making him the most highly paid fighter in the history of the well-respected boxing series’ four-years.
The moment of the knockout

Keslov is known for his inaptitude for speech, and indeed he attends press conferences and simply stares reporters down, similarly to what he did to opponent Tyrone Wiggington before knocking the poor chap out in a time span of less than two rounds and two minutes. It stands as Keslov’s twenty-fourth consecutive knockout, a string of wins which the boxing world believes can simply not last much longer.

The fight looked grim for Keslov when he took a beating in the first round and fell to the deck, but he stood up and was soon saved by the bell during a flurry of Wiggington’s punches which probably would have knocked the junior Guardian out. However, that expenditure of energy combined with Mr. Keslov’s remarkable stamina spelled doom for Wiggington in the second and third round, the latter of which the champion knocked out the challenger one minute and twenty-two seconds into. After a strong right that came after a series of sharp left jabs, Mr. Wiggington hit the floor and, based on the swooning look on his face, boxing official Marty McKeen called the fight in favor of the champion.

“The result of this match was never in much doubt, but it made for an interesting spectacle,” said well-known sports bettor Artemis Morbus. “The odds took a swing in Wiggington's favor at the end, but the smart money was on Jacque Keslov, even if we did not earn that much.”

The staff of the Keslov camp was silent as always, and refused interviews or a press conference after the fight. It was disappointing to us in the media, but silence seems to be a part of Keslov’s strategy of unpredictability. However, Jacque Keslov surprised the media by answering one question to Channel 10 reporter Scoops Callahan just after the fight. His answer contained one word, “Outdoors,” bringing about speculation that his career might move into the deadly realm of the Colosseum.

Thus far, underdogs have not fared well in the recently founded ANG-sponsored boxing league, having only scored two wins in over four years. However, there are rumblings of a new fighter coming up through the ranks with a powerful right uppercut and a mouth to go with it who might change that theme, and it is a female nicknamed Iron Candy. She fights in a men's’ league, but their horns make one almost impervious to roundhouse punches and hooks to the face. Iktotchi females hold power and do not subsume to the tirings of human males, the race and gender of the champion. There is no bout set between the two, but we might learn of one soon. We will update you on any possible developments.

This is Scoops Callahan, reporting from Vectinia and signing off. Back to you, Lub Quish.

"Thank you for your report, Scoops. In other news, there is a report of the galactic economy by central banker Alan Falleenspan. Initial reports of his speech, which was given to a private audience in an undisclosed location, suggesting that the overall economy has been quite stagnant for several years. However, Mr. Falleenspan announced that he will soon publish an essay and make a public statement regarding the details of what has been reported to him by his team of economists.
