RNN Headquarters, REPUBLICA -- This is Military News Correspondent Janet Vnokav coming to you with breaking news of a successful deep strike mission against the Galactic Empire. The strike mission saw the cooperation of New Republic Intelligence (NRI) and the New Republic Armed Forces (NRAF) in which an NRI Assault Group was rescued and their gathered intelligence secured.

I have been informed that the New Republic Armed Forces Legacy Tactical Group infiltrated the Besq system, currently held by the Galactic Empire. The strike was led by Director of NRI Adam Hughes aboard the Strike-Class Medium Cruiser [AH] Arunta alongside a small tactical team of military officers.

The Tactical Strike Group managed to quickly enter the system and ascertain the whereabouts of their primary objective, NRI Assault Group 21. Despite being buried deep within hostile territory, a small recovery team was dispatched to an undisclosed planet and successfully managed to secure friendly forces for rendezvous with the main Legacy Group waiting in orbit. I'm told that in addition to the primary objective, Legacy Group was able to complete a secondary reconnaissance objective in which valuable planetary and system data was recovered. Imperial opposition responded with numerous vessels including the Executor-class Star Destroyer Absolute and Victory Star Destroyer Archon but were successfully outmanoeuvred by Legacy Group, before our forces were able to safely exit the system.

The Operation was deemed a success by NRI and NRAF officials, and a portion of it was declassified for public knowledge. Because of this, RNN was able to provide this news story as well as obtain and broadcast the following interview with Director of NRI Adam Hughes, and Chief of Military Operations (CMO) Jin Solas.

"Director Hughes can you tell our viewers about this Operation?" Janet Vnokav poses.

"Certainly. Operation Watchtower has been in the works for a while now. I received communications from Assault Group 21, which had been stuck on the target planet for a long time. Though communications jamming surrounded the whole world, they were able to slice into the communications net and send me a brief coded message. Because of constant Imperial monitoring, AG21 had no way to get off the planet without being detected by the Imperials and likely captured. They had been holed up in a crumbling High Rise and living out of their cover vehicle which was hidden in an underground parking structure." Director Hughes stated.

"Because of this, a rescue mission was mounted to recover AG21 and their vehicle's onboard computer which had stored their accumulated intelligence. An NRAF system assault was chosen as a strategic method to cover our true intentions in the system. The rescue Op was completed successfully and AG21 is currently onboard the Arunta with myself undergoing some much-needed rest and medical treatment after being stuck there so long and the strong resistance we encountered upon landing to recover the team. I would like to commend the members of AG21 for their bravery not only in surviving so long in hostile territory but also for completing their objectives. I would also like to commend the members of Legacy Tactical Group for undertaking such a risky mission, and for showing unparalleled efficiency to their duty."

"Thank you, Director Hughes," Janet says "Now CMO Solas what is your take on the mission?"

"Thank you, Miss Vnokav. Legacy Tactical Group was the perfect fit for this kind of mission. The group had been re-built from the ground up for these kinds of fast infiltration and assault situations, and in that capacity, I feel the group performed admirably. I was also pleased to once again work officially alongside NRI, sharing intelligence and resources for the common benefit of the New Republic. I feel the mission was completed in an exemplary fashion and I am looking forward to analysing the accumulated data more fully, including the naval tactics used by the Empire to try and thwart our efforts there. I'd like to personally thank all of the officers from Legacy whom were deployed on the operation for your courage in standing up to the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. I would also like to congratulate Director Hughes, a long time Naval Admiral himself, for his efforts in leading the Operation to success out in the field." The CMO nods politely, signalling the end of the interview.
