USK – The Knights of the Fountain have announced that the ninth Uli-ah Gafsa Memorial Swap Meet will take place from Day 114 through Day 123 on Champala. This will be the first time that the Swap Meet will be held on the Chagrian home world nestled just on the edge of Imperial territory. “We would like to thank the Chagrian and other Champalan denizens for welcoming the rest of us to their little corner of the galaxy for a widely respected communal event,” said Lanavander Olesa, current Commissioner of Krieg’s Run Racing. “I can say on behalf of the Knights that we are pleased that the local government has shown such a willingness to deliver an authentic Swap Meet experience. Tolando and I were particularly impressed with the decision to host this upcoming Meet in one of the few deserts located on an otherwise luxuriant planet. The choice is a fitting homage to the Jawa Swap Meets historically held in the Dune Seas of Tatooine.”

This iteration of the Swap Meet, which rotates between different planets in alternating sequence with the popular Hutt Space destination of Nimban, is expected to feature its usual slate of entertainment. Races, gambling, and hunting competitions offer attending sentients many opportunities to wager their hard-earned credits away when they aren’t engaged in trade. Krieg’s Run Racing will again host its checkpoint-based sublight speed race known as the Uli Speed Trials. This Swap Meet’s Speed Trials is sponsored by Black Sun, and offers 85 million credits in prizes for the pilots posting the fastest times during the Swap Meet. “Because we are away from Nimban, the Knights are only holding the Uli Speed Trials for this Swap Meet,” Olesa said. “Nonetheless, we expect that a packed field of pilots will test their mettle to see who can complete the high speed course through the Chagri system the fastest and claim the grand prize. Year 20 saw Dac Kain and Inya D’Azveris take home first prize in the Uli Speed Trials at different Swap Meets." “However, I’d wager a fair amount of credits on reigning Krieg’s Run champion Regulus Jagarnat if he decided to run the race—and if I weren’t organizing the race of course,” she quickly added. “Wouldn’t want racers to think I wasn’t impartial!”

Recent political upheaval across the galaxy has led some merchants and other regular attendees to express concerns about attending the upcoming event. In particular, the Knights of the Fountain received questions about whether the declaration of surrender made by New Republic Chief of State Galen Darksol would impact the Swap Meet in any way. Olesa assured that the event will go on as planned. “The Swap Meet has been a neutral gathering to allow all sentients to come together to exchange goods, and, since Year 15, to honor the memory of Uli-ah Gafsa. While the news out of Republica has sent ripples across the galaxy, the Knights of the Fountain do not expect it to have any effect on the Swap Meet itself and predict that this upcoming Swap Meet will be similar to past events." “Still, as always, we ask Swap Meet attendees to exercise the same level of carefulness that they would in their day to day lives. Try to leave enough space between ships when parking at the Meet. Don’t take your sandcrawler out for a nighttime spin if you’ve had too much spotchka to drink. And, always be mindful of whose ship you are boarding."
