Today marks the official founding of Maker's Offworld Medical by Jawa Offworld Enterprises in conjunction with its premier trading partner, the Gordian Reach Authority. The Jawa people have long been in need of their own medical institution, having been forced to rely upon the medical expertise of non-Jawas who cannot even begin to understand Jawa physiology. It is the new company's hope that, through specialized medical research and training, they will be able to provide medical supplies and trained Jawa physicians to assist Jawa clans throughout the galaxy.
The reason for the Jawa Offworld Enterprises partnership with the Gordian Reach Authority is twofold. A long and trusted friendship exists between the two organizations, and the jungles of the Authority-controlled world of Yavin 4 are rich with Alazhi, a critical component in healing medicine, whereas Jawa-controlled Tatooine is a barren desert not capable of producing the fungus needed to create life-sustaining bacta.

The founding staff of Maker's Offworld Medical includes Hazamuzee Seph, the Director of Manufacturing and a doctor specializing in cybernetic flesh grafting; Nejal K`teefah, a doctor specializing in battlefield medicine; and Krat Lak, a doctor specializing in alternative medicine. Hazamuzee tells the story of how she was inspired to to push for the creation of the loving arms of MOM for Jawas everywhere:
"Haza was in her Sprint-class Rescue Craft supervising her utility droids as they installed a new blast door to seal off the medical rooms for privacy. Suddenly, one of the droids malfunctioned and the blast door closed on Haza, which knocked her unconscious. The experience of the next few hours is what would change Haza's life forever. She was unconscious and on the verge of death, with no one with medical knowledge around. The Tinkerer himself came to Haza robed as the Maker and healed her and brought her back to the realm of the living.
"Haza has been training to be a Jawa Shaman her whole life, but in that moment, the Tinkerer showed her that her path as Shaman would take her to helping to repair the body and soul of the Jawa people, as well as to enlightenment. So Maker's Offworld Medical came into being to nurture and heal the Jawa people."
There are as many different beliefs among Jawas as there are Jawa clans. Some clans believe in the Maker as a separate deity below the Tinkerer who aids with the physical needs of Jawas in the universe. Hazamuzee and her religious acolytes believe the Maker and the Tinkerer are the same god, and that the Maker is the physical expression of the Tinkerer, who is almost always spoken of as a non-corporeal spirit god.
Although Maker's Offworld Medical primarily intends to serve the Jawa people and the Gordian Reach Authority, others wishing to use the medical services provided by MOM may do so for a modest fee.
