The Imperial Bolo-Ball League has returned with a bang. Following the replacement of Cloud City with Auvasa Corp. as the league's main sponsor, the revenue and excitement surrounding this season is immense with this year tipped to be the year when the sport finally cements its popularity in the Core worlds.
Defending Champions Correllian Hotspur were up against Urawa Reds, the team they took the title from last season, and they continued where they had left off with a 2-1 away win over their "Big 4" rival.
The other two "Big 4" clubs, Vakkar BC and AC Coruscant both had impressive wins over their opponents. Vakkar BC were at home to Myorzo BC, the team backed by the Imperial weapons manufacturer of the same name, and notched up an intense 3-1 win, all goals coming in the final twenty minutes. While AC Coruscant away to Kathol Saints proved to be the thriller of the weekend with the game ending 4-3 for AC, Crollian midfielder and AC team captain Kinto Beck scoring the first hat-trick of the season.

Kiffex Streakers, currently based out of Coruscant due to troubles at home, were away to Agrilat Avenagers in a game which saw crowd trouble following the loss by Kiffex in a match ending 2-1 Agrilat. Imperial forces put an end to the troubles immediatley, not wanting to have a repeat of the Vakkar incident of two seasons ago in which 167 were killed.
Two new teams that entered the league as the result of the Imperial take over of the Corporate sector, Pypin Pirates and Primus Docs were up against each other and it was the Docs that claimed the bragging rights with a 2-1 win over the pirates following a stunning second half comeback which saw them overturn Pypin's 1-0 lead. But the comeback that surpirsed many viewers and commentators alike was the 3-2 victory of Sublight Swoopers over Napels Kings. Sublight Swoopers' big money spending spree in pre-season now backed by an excellent first game performance shows that they mean business following a pre-season statement about breaking the dominance of the “Big 4”.
Elsewhere the first Fakir Derby saw Imperium Dei get a narrow 1-0 win against Fakir United in a game watched closely by the 3rd Imperial Fleet, the owners of the Sector team, Fakir United. This score line was also the end result in the games between Kothlis Krusader's and Smeghead BC and Kuhnic Spectres against Lechia Lions, with Smeghead BC and Kuhnic Spectres coming out on top in the respective matches.

The only draw of the day was seen in the dreadful game between Yag`Dhul Arsenals and The Maw's Avengers, the game ending 0-0. This result seemingly proving many of the expert predictions, that these two teams will struggle to stay off the bottom of the table, correct. However they, along with the rest of the league, will get a chance to improve their position with the next matches being only two days away.
