MARCH OF THE ARKANIANS

At a gathered assembly of nearly 500,000 Arkanians, Con Semper, an Arkanian offshoot and a member of the AARP, addresses the growing crowd.

"Humanity -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

I am not included within the pale of this glorious Humanity. Their high independence only reveals the immeasurable distance between us. The blessings in which they this day rejoice are not enjoyed in common. The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity, and independence bequeathed by their fathers is shared among them, not by me. The sunlight that brought life and healing to them has brought stripes and death to me. Humanity is theirs, not mine. They may rejoice. I must mourn. They drag a man in fetters into the grand illuminated temple of liberty and call upon him to join them in joyous anthems where inhuman mockery and sacrilegious irony reign."

With a great pause, Semper hangs his head, waiting for silence to come over the crowd.

"Year 19, Day 92, a date which will live in infamy: a date in which The Advocacy for the Assimilation of near-humans declared war on Arkania, and Humans across the galaxy called us charlatans. They call us equals, but we know better. We will not be held down to their level. We are Arkanians!"

Looking over the crowd, Con hushes the murmured roars of angry Arkanians.

"I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our race.

We call upon the nations and organizations of the Galaxy to lend their voices to the Arkanian people and their cause. We call upon them to rise up as one, and to protect the racial sovereignty of the Arkanian people against those who would subjugate our natural and Force-given freedoms."

"We call upon the Galactic Concordiate, the coalition of governing bodies in which we have found a home. We call upon the New Republic, and all others who have fought against the Human-centric and supremacist organizations of the Galaxy. We call upon the Jedi Order, the Ashla Covenant, the Wraiths, and all other organizations who defend the weak and downtrodden. We call upon all other races who have found racial independence, who have fought for their right to exist.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and Galactic alliance, north and south, east and west, that can assure a more fruitful life for all Galactic kind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the Galaxy, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility — I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our cause and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the Galaxy.

The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave.

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.

Four thousand score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this planet a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men can be created equal.

We choose racial recognition. We choose recognition in this decade, not because it is easy, but because it is hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.

So we declare, on this day our independence day, we will be free of the shackles that tie us in obscurity to Humanity.

We are fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win the day, Year 19 Day 100 will no longer be known as just another day, but as the day when Arkania declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight on Arkania, we shall defend our Planet, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight in the skies, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender!

We will not waver, we will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail for the Arkania species and those who stand with us!"
