Te Evaar'la'simir - The New Year
Posted by: Gramur Krayteth, Mando`ade
Date: Year 21 Day 11 Onboard the Crusader-class Corvette Akaan'beviin in system Manda (312, -168).

(MNB) Aloriya, Manda - New Year celebrations are wrapping up on Manda. Various hunting, martial, and weapon competitions were held across the planet, with the celebrations culminating in a large, public feast in the capital of Aloriya. The normally quiet city was transformed into a bustling, raucous place full of colourfully-armoured Mandalorians.

The celebrations were sponsored by the newly-reorganised Mando'ade government to celebrate one of its more eventful years in recent history. Undoubtedly organisers were thinking of two key events when the celebrations were announced: The signing of a peace treaty with Mandalore on day 94, officially ending the almost decade-long Mandalorian Civil War, and the formal reorganisation of Mando'ade into a definite governmental structure on day 215.

Another cause for celebration was the success of the Mando'ade-sponsored Galactic Shockball League team, Manda Mirshii. The expansion team drew a place in the top-tier Core Worlds division and put on a strong showing to finish with the second-best record. The team was exceedingly popular throughout Mando'ade space, garnering the vast majority of holonet viewing by every measure.

The year also saw Mando'ade taking over the Death Hunt during the Malastare Swap Meet, an event originally organised by the now-defunct Death Watch. At the subsequent Nimban Swap Meet, the event was transformed into the more traditional Great Hunt. Both events pitted some of the best hunters in the galaxy against each other, and in the end, Belloq Tull, a champion of previous Death Hunts, emerged as the victor. A concurrent, junior event for up and coming hunters was won by Nix Elessar.

The new government still has challenges ahead, however. Critics have pointed out the increase in bandit and pirate activity within the region and have accused the government of not focusing enough resources in routing these raiding parties. Security forces have not as of yet been able to identify the reason for the increased lawlessness, but it is believed they could be refugees fleeing violence in other areas of the galaxy or opportunists seeking the riches of nearby discovered asteroids. The government announced that it has increased patrols to combat the pirate threat, and security forces believe they will be able to neutralise the raiders in the coming months.

And then there's the seemingly ever-present challenge presented by two individuals claiming the title of Mand'alor. When questioned during the celebration, many attendees expressed the lack of a single Mand'alor as their biggest concern for the Mandalorian people. MNB did receive information from a source who wished to remain anonymous that the topic was on the agenda for discussion during the treaty negotiations with Mandalore. However, given the lack of announcements from the governments out of both the Manda and Mandalore systems on the topic, it is safe to assume that no agreements were reached.

The celebratory feast closed with remarks from Mand'alor himself. Speaking to the crowd that had amassed for the celebrations, Mand'alor thanked his kinsfolk for their tireless efforts throughout the year, praising their dedication to the development of the infrastructure and defence of Mando'ade space.

"As we move into this new year, I want to make it clear that the continued development of our forces and the defence of our clans will continue! I am dedicated to our preservation and celebrating our culture throughout the galaxy. We will continue to provide every opportunity possible to our people and those that have put their faith in us.

"We are one people, of many races, brought together by a common belief in the Mandalorian way of life. Oya!"
