HYPORI - FERRA - The Hyporian Commonwealth is a flurry of activity preparing for the investiture of Va`Li Owa of the Arkanian Brotherhood as the next Hierarch of the Commonwealth, coinciding with the approaching Fortuna festival which is held this year on day 145. Once considered an obscure festival, Fors Fortuna is now one of the most important holidays in the Commonwealth honoring the goddess of fortune, fate, and chance. The unification of the Hyporian Commonwealth and Arkanian Brotherhood on Day 125 Year 21 was seen as a surprising and bold move of two major governments by many in the galaxy. The merger of the two governments and subsequent change of leadership of the Commonwealth to Va`Li Owa was under discussion for some time as a way to strengthen both organizations, streamline operations, and unify to conduct operations and defend against the Empire and its allies in the Imperial Union. The approaching festival provided the most auspicious timing of such an event and leap of fate.

In his farewell address, the departing Hierarch, Nikolaj Eyre, drew from his own experiences had this to say: “When I was young, I used to climb the Roa mountains on Anzat and find a secluded vantage point to gaze up and marvel at the star destroyers flying high above. Even as a child, my dreams were always upwards, in the stars beyond, a vision of wonder and a sense of adventure only possible in the mind of a child. Whether by good or ill intentions or by those simply trying to protect me, to save me from the stern reality check that awaits all children as they approach adulthood. They set about shaping and molding my future before I could stand. They wrought chains in meleenium, binding it to godforsaken ideals, broken concepts, and stagnant principles.

“Attempting to manipulate my understanding, taint my comprehension, and control my destiny. They taught me to fight, fear, and completely avoid my greatest ally. To cling to any familiar system, no matter how broken, unreliable, and corrupted. To accept and embrace the status quo without question.”

“Taking a pause to reflect, he continues, “When I was older, I was thrown into a galaxy of chaos, filled with terror and hatred. Plagued with the inability to comprehend and subdue the corruption consuming them. Their eyes wide shut to the monsters pounding at the gates. The only consistency, people's willingness to destroy trust to achieve their goals and the unwillingness to embrace our savior.

“Change.

“It's the misfits. It's the rebels. It's the troublemakers. It's the oil mixed with water. The ones with a unique perception of reality. No respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the galaxy forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the galaxy, are the ones who do.

“No matter your origin, what you’ve experienced, or the future that awaits, certain things connect us as sentient beings. We all want to belong. We all want to pursue our dreams and develop our potential. And perhaps most of all, whether we admit it or not, we all strive for change. The dividing line is not between those who want to change the galaxy and those who do not. There is no one whose heart still pounds in their chest who can view the ravages of war, suffering, and injustice without wishing that things could be different. The dividing line, then, is between the warriors of hope who believe that change is both possible and necessary, and the many who have given up and abandoned this dream to the lures of cynicism, distraction or despair.

“Its collaborations of like-minded individuals that will transform what's perceived to be inevitable. That future created by our hand is tormented by uncertainty, plagued with despair, and brimming with chaos. Only together can we halt this impending doom crafted by the malicious intent of those willing to sacrifice life for personal gain.

“Forged out of this desire and determinations to resist those who seek to harm us. Thus, two great nations have become one family, one cause, one dream. We continue forward ready to face whatever challenges the future holds. With Va`Li’s guidance and wisdom, we shall rise to new heights and continue to achieve the impossible. We have gathered from all walks of life, every corner of the galaxy, and united towards a common goal. We are the burning flames, determined to set the galaxy ablaze with hope and perseverance.”

Meanwhile, on Hypori, Solarius Masha oversees the final preparation of various gifts, games, and other festivities on the grounds of the Temple of the Deities. When questioned about the importance of the festival he had this to say: “The celebrations of Fortuna, one of the chief deities of the Commonwealth represent a time of libations through fire and smoke, celebrations and a reflection on fate. Over the year from the founding of the tetrarchy, the Cooperative, and its victory scored on the Imperial homefront in Corellia, to its eventual collapse leading to the founding of Hyporian Commonwealth. The goddess Fortuna has overseen and watched over us during this period of the titanic shifts and rapid transformation our nation witnessed both in terms of power and wealth of the Commonwealth and its citizens.

“The addition of our Galactic Alliance brethren, the Arkanian Brotherhood, to our nation is yet another sign of the blessing Fortuna has provided us. We always worked well with many members of the Arkanian Brotherhood and this is just an evolution of our relationship. I look forward to the coming days growing together as one family and as one nation, pouring our heart, blood, sweat and soul on to this land we call home. With Fortuna’s continued grace, and through the hard work of our citizens, we shall survive and thrive. I personally will be taking time during this year's celebrations to pray for the departed souls lost, and grant us favor in the various battles waged by the Aegis aiding the Rebel Alliance and The Resistance forces right outside our doorstep. May Fortuna favor the bold. May Fortuna favor the brave. May Fortuna favor the strong.”

While the main activities of the festival are hosted by the Hyporian Commonwealth, all inhabitants of the galaxy are invited to our space as we venerate our goddess Fortuna.
