A Chiss news host comes into view with a datapad in hand. He begins to speak to the camera.

"We interrupt your program to inform you that Eidola Pirate, and Guild friend, Captain Jax Starblade will remove himself from public life to pursue self-enlightenment.  We go now to Solomon Mazer who is addressing his membership and has allowed media access."

The holo snaps to a live feed of Mazer at a podium.  He begins to address his audience.

“Greetings, thank you for your attendance on such short notice. 

“It is my humble duty to inform you and the Galactic Underworld that Captain Jax Starblade will begin meditative seclusion to become One with the Living Force.  He did not make this decision lightly, friends.  In our discussions, Jax determined that he had risen to the pinnacle of his craft.  That he is ready for the spiritual challenge of anchoring himself as a totem to what the galaxy has to offer.  As such, he will be leaving behind his status and wealth to begin daily meditation.  By giving up the trappings of material life, Jax hopes to weave himself to the essence of the Force.

“Jax and I have been working together to collect the necessary staff and materials he needs for this endeavor.  Per his instructions, I have assembled a team of scholars, mystics, clerics, and one Corellian librarian.  Making sure she is, and I quote, ‘sexy a.f.’” The crowd murmurs their approval, a few laughs are heard.  Mazer continues, “This team has been assembled and the Guild supplied a suitable residence.  The location of Captain Starblade’s extra-planar, jumping off point is classified; he wishes not to be disturbed.  However, he has asked that I bring him to Uli Memorial Swap Meets as often as possible- which I will gladly do.

“Tomorrow, Jax will sequester himself to his meditation compound and will begin to unravel the mysteries of the universe with the help of his spiritual mentors.  When he achieves his link with the Living Force, according to his mentors, ‘his soul will venture out and tether to the physical world superficially.’  As many know, Jax is not Force sensitive- but that will not deter him from finding union with it.  He will accomplish this… I have no doubt. 

“How can I be so sure?  Winning is Jax’s natural state…  Consider his career: he’s a Captain of Eidola, the Magistrate of Nar Shadda, and has the respect of the Underworld Community.  He breathed life into BlasTech and other businesses.  He’s an accomplished pilot and holds the first trophy of the Speeder Time Trials as well as qualified for the Krieg’s Run Champion Race.  From the laundry list of bounties he’s earned, to all the grand larcenies and executions he has committed.  Jax is a true Pirate…."  Mazer is stopped by applause and shouts.  "Indeed, but let’s not forget his acts of generosity.  As a founding member of the Corellian Society, he’s helped to outfit his fellow Corellians for a decent start in the galaxy.  Some of you here received a leg up from Jax’s good will.  We can all learn a thing or two from him." The crowd assembled erupts into applause again. Mazer continues after a moment.  "Through all this, he’s celebrated his victories and criticisms with aplomb.  You can’t keep that man down.  I am sure he will find enlightenment, it’s a goal worthy of such a man...  Who better?  The balance of the galaxy teeters on villainy and heroism.  On loss and gain.  Jax straddles both sides of these ideas.  If enlightenment can be found, he will find it.” 

Mazer pauses a moment and then continues, “Tomorrow, Jax will begin his journey.  Tonight, we send him off at the Rimmer’s Rest.  Let’s raise our glasses to The Thug Lord.  He insists on paying and all are invited!”

The assembled burst into a hearty applause.  Mazer raises a highball glass; a rich, brown liquor is seen in it.  He projects his voice above the cheers.

"Let it ring in his ears, ‘Drinks on JAX!!’  Let’s wish him all the luck in the Galaxy!  DRINKS ON JAX!!"

The holo cuts out as the crowd before Mazer bellows the chant, “DRINKS ON JAX!! DRINKS ON JAX!!”
