Ruug'l'aka Ru'mar'eyir - An Old Mission Discovered
Posted by: Kai Oryk, Mando`ade
Date: Year 21 Day 259 Onboard the Crusader-class Corvette Akaan'ulik in system Bright Jewel (-5, 185).

(MNB) Ord Mantell, Bright Jewel Sector - While most of the denizens of the galaxy enjoyed the planet-wide gala on Ord Mantell, Mandalorians who had had their fill of ne'tra gal and festival games took to the stars for a more thrilling challenge.

With duty an ever-present part of life, a squadron of ships flew away from the congested space lanes of the Bright Jewel system looking to practice manoeuvres utilising sensor data gathered from scans of the myriad of vessels observed coming and going from the system. It was during these practice sorties that the squadron came across bizarre readings, which indicated the presence of a large mass that was metallic in nature.

Upon further investigation, the pilots were surprised to find a mostly intact ship that was the source of their readings and that it appeared to be an Acclamator-class Assault Ship - a relic of the Clone Wars long past.

Reporting their findings, the pilots scanned the ship, and the suspected lack of life signs was confirmed. A standard operations plan was executed, where an advance team boarded the cruiser to investigate the circumstances that led to the warship being abandoned.

Once they had effected entry on board, the team began sweeping the decks of the ship for any signs of life missed from previous scans. It was reported that apart from the odd mynock, the vessel was in remarkably good condition for its age and considering how long it must have been drifting through space.

Once power had been restored, the team were able to reach the bridge without incident, allowing them to access the ship's logs. Despite some degradation of the memory core from years of neglect, they were able to ascertain the facts as to why the ship had been left vacant for so many years.

According to the information found within the logs: the vessel had originally been a part of a fleet of warships that the Galactic Republic had placed in deep space as a contingency plan in case the outcome of the Clone Wars turned in favour of the Separatist Alliance; the operation was devised to use a hidden fleet situated on the outskirts of Republic space, which would make use of a specially calculated hyperspace jump using the Entralla Route that ran between the Ord Mantell and Mygeeto systems.

The mission was designed to allow the Republic to strike a significant blow to their enemies, hitting at both their monetary operations, then under the control of the Intergalactic Banking Clan - a commerce guild, which had been found to be actively supporting the Separatists despite doing business with the Republic and claiming neutrality during the Clone Wars; and to destroy several covert manufacturing bases that clone intelligence units had uncovered in neighbouring systems.

Ultimately, the Galactic Republic's operation did not take place and from the information found onboard the Acclamator-class Assault Ship, Majestic, it is unknown what happened to the rest of the fleet. The Mandalorian government has since denied reports of there being further discoveries of other vessels within the area although it is believed more of the ships have been found.

However, it can be confirmed that the Majestic will be taken back to Mandalorian space to be reviewed further by their engineers, who have recently been reported as having modernised the Valor-class Crusier design, updating the model to be able to be used within their fleet. [MNB Source]
