With the start of GalFest, otherwise known as the Galactic Jawa Festival Celebration, many wondered what to expect from the event that is hosted by a collective of shadowy carnival gypsies. However, one thing that has certainly been present is a large quantity of Jawas and the hijinks that come with them. With the festival being based in the ancient Jawa carnivals of old, many attendees have even cited the Jawa presence as being the main reason for their attendance, coming from around the galaxy to celebrate affordable droid sales and freedom from taxation. In this broadcast, we hope to shed light on the important aspects of the modern GalJawaFest, such as gambling with the famed Sleepy D`nola, ensuring the success of salvage, and what is happening with Jawa-Kushiban relations.

One Jawa who has drawn extensive attention at the GalJawaFest is Sleep D`nola, a trustworthy gambling vendor who runs his legendary game of “Coin Pusher”. Of the D`nola clan, this Jawa has had a long history running fair and not-rigged gambling games for sentients of all backgrounds. In fact, Sleepy is even known for being so inattentive that gamblers are constantly cheating him. Many have reported winning hundreds of tickets at his coin pushing game, and some even report managing to steal items of value from him while he is drifting off, such as his wallet, drink, and second child. JOE is not able to confirm the validity of any of these statements.
Another notable Jawa appearance has been His Most Holy Techseer, Voice of the Tinkerer and Keeper of the Tithes, Tilba Ugama. Gracing the masses with his presence in a rare trip away from the temples of Tatoo, the Most Holy Techseer has been seen spreading the news of the great salvage of souls and speaking on the importance of tithing for salvage success, saying the following: “Anything you salvage is never truly free; rather, it is paid for by the Tinkerer so that you can further his will, the lifting up of Jawakind. In the same sense, these Acclamators being found just outside Ord Mantell are not some freak discoveries, but instead an opportunity for you to support the greater salvage occurring in our galaxy. Anyway, that's enough theology. Please remember to tithe 5-25% of salvaged ship value in credits, droids, or designer robes to your local chapter of the Jawa Industrial Magi or directly to me. I wear a medium sized robe with extra padding in the thighs.” Truly inspirational. Only time will tell if the human pagans of factions like Mando`ade will ensure the success of their salvage, or see their ships succumb to rust and fried circuitry.
As many attendees at the GalJawaFest have now seen, a traditionally Jawa sandcrawler has been retrofitted by a crew of Kushiban and their Krayt sidekick. This has been heralded by many as a show of Kushiban and Jawa unity, an unlikely combination of races in the galaxy that has found friendship in their shared experiences of being mistaken for large rodents and denied access to carnival rides due to their height. In an attempt to return the gesture of friendship, several Jawas planned a surprise for noted Kushiban, Uje Jek, aboard his ship, intending to leave him gifts of churros and other Jawa goods conveniently located in his cargo hold. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when the ship's security alarms were triggered. We are pleased to report that no Jawas were injured, only one Jawa was left behind, and that the gift has been largely well received!

However, not all has been positive for Jawas at GalJawaFest. Many Jawas have cited prejudice against them at varying activities and from a number of patrons. Most notably, an Ithorian peddler onboard the Jubilee Wheel has refused to sell blueprint designs for several humanitarian vessels to Jawa businessmen.
