Nuz Bazan(formerly K'eb), Csilla (CPIN) - Mere months after regaining control of the Chiss homeworld, the Ascendancy’s ruling families gathered once more to celebrate the appointment of a new leader for the Chiss people. In a joint statement by the Council of Families, they named Drath're'skal, better known by his core name Thresk, as the new Grand Aristocra. Only a select few press representatives were granted permission to attend, as the Chiss are notoriously wary of outsiders and rarely allow those of another species to set foot in their home.
After regaining control of our homeworld with the aid of our new Imperial allies, the spark of hope and excitement felt by the Chiss people came dangerously close to being snuffed out before it even had the chance to truly take hold. Although former Grand Aristocra Yar'eius'rot, alias Reius Rothschild, was responsible for negotiating the return to Csilla, it quickly became apparent that he was a leader with no vision or integrity. Emperor Seele, wary of signing over the fate of an entire system without assurances, expected the Grand Aristocra to report to the Imperial Throne on his plans to rebuild the Ascendancy and fulfill its potential as a vital player on the galactic scene. After failing to meet several deadlines, the now disgraced politician revealed to key Chiss officials his plot to seize the assets of the Ascendancy and establish an empire with himself as its ruler, expecting to have the support of the Chiss. Recognizing that their leader’s loyalty was not to his people but himself, they chose to inform the Imperial liaison and expose Reius’s treasonous intent. Once removed from office, the former patriarch of the now extinguished House Yar fled on a personal shuttle and has not been seen since.
Since the Battle of Csilla in Year 9, the Chiss have toiled under the bureaucratic tyranny of the New Republic that preached liberty and equality, yet refused to give its peoples any semblance of sovereignty. Torn between collaboration with an oppressor that treated them as second-class citizens or being denied all access to their beloved homeworld, the modern Ascendancy has had a troubled history marred by infighting due to conflicting visions. With the removal of House Yar, a final relic of a bygone era, the Ascendancy can finally turn its vision to the future and rebuild their enigmatic civilisation.
Addressing the crowds from the balcony of the palace, Grand Aristocra Thresk had a clear message: “We have suffered through mistakes. We have suffered through our home being ruled over by another. We have suffered through our own people driving us apart. Brothers and sisters, I welcome you to a new day, a new chance to do this right. For those of our kin that have not yet found their way home, I implore you to reconnect and reclaim your heritage. Together, we will be recognized everywhere as a bastion of hope for those lost in this unknowable galaxy. The suffering of yesterday should not define who we are, rather an example of what we will never be again. To my family and observers from across the galaxy, I welcome you all to the dawn of the Seventh Chiss Ascendancy."
Reports from inside the council chambers indicate that major changes are afoot which are sure to propel the Ascendancy into the galactic limelight and establish it as a prime example of what an independent and tenacious people can accomplish when freed from the clutches of corrupt politicians.
