Eastern Ploo Sector, Y26 D155 - Seneschal Knightcrawler of The Invid Order revealed during a press conference today that the Alliance has discovered a major source of the Son-tuul Pride's criminal operations near the Eastern tip of the Ploo sector.
The Mon Calamari official went on to explain "Intelligence sources revealed the presence of a particularly large cluster of asteroid fields claimed by the Son-tuul Pride. MM 107+194L, an asteroid field particularly close to Serroco, appeared to be the heart of their criminal activity. Not only were they constructing numerous hidden hangars throughout the field, but they had even started digging their roots into both a small and large planetoid in the field."
Seneschal Knightcrawler revealed numerous images and scans of all local regions, including a recycling and repair station just south of MM 107+194, as well as recent STP frigate movement. The Invid official believes that Shadow Dominion forces planned to use the field as a trap for local pirates and press them into service for Son-Tuul Pride.
The Son-tuul pirates had deployed their own extensive sensor network and were active within the region. Despite this, they were none the wiser to the landing of an Alliance strike team. Forces from the Rebel Alliance, Jawa Offworld Enterprises, The Antarian Rangers, The Exchange, and The Invid Order managed to land forces on the larger of the two planetoids.
When asked by reporters how this combined strike force managed to infiltrate such a heavily patrolled area, and the value of this liberated pirate base, Seneschal Knightcrawler responded, "They seemed too distracted by Alliance activity in Serroco - where fighter losses had been traded back and forth - to notice the loss of their local crown jewel. Alliance forces neutralized pirates loitering on the Son-tuul planetoid without ever waking up the operators of the nearby Shield Generator. I've never been as interested in this side of economics, but I'm told that such a rich asteroid field so close to Serroco would hypothetically be of enormous monetary value."
Knightcrawler further revealed that the seizure also included mineral survey data originally gathered by STP itself. Between that and a factory on the nearby smaller planetoid, he speculated that the field would also have had logistical value to the Shadow Dominion.
The concluding statements reinforced the Alliance strike went a long way to subduing the Son-tuul Pride in the Ploo sector, and that the logistical potential of this base now lies with them.
