Date: Year 5 Day 169 Onboard the Carrack/I-class Light Cruiser Dave in system Knolstee.
I find myself unable to justify after this time, an allegiance to Kulthar Drax merely because he once knew King Eldrik who once worked alongside my father. My allegiance with Kulthar has cheapened what Eidola was, and made a fool of us both. Though he always spoke to me, placating me assuring me that he intended to help make this dream of "Malebranche" a veritable pirate group, his mind was always elsewhere, dreaming up Drax Mining, maybe becoming a government, even calling himself King.

In an attempt to salvage the fleets of Malebranche, I worked towards amalgamation of them into a single pirate group, under the understanding it would be co-led by Lilith and myself. However as the move progressed, it became clear her other allegiances were showing through, he spoke of replacing my position , of keeping hidden system names away from Malebranche, for exclusive use of those with the surname "Drax", of keeping all the capital ships he owned in his personal accounts and not letting Malebranche pilots fly them. This was not a pirate group Kuraine had in mind, it was an Empire.

Through my young years in the galaxy, I have learned that there is little point to involving yourself in the galaxy unless you have a close circle of friends you can trust intimately, with your life and with your fortunes, they will be loyal to you, and you to them, for as long as you know each other. I have several of these friends, who if I asked, would send me all they owned without a second thought, and who if they asked, I would return the favour. Kulthar Drax betrayed my trust in him, and it hurt me. I have had several opportunities to steal even Kulthar's prized ISD that he seemed to magically inherit from Eldrik Kuraine, and each time I have passed up the temptation, reminding myself how much that ship means to him, but now, now I wish I had. I have proven my loyalty to Kuraine, to Kulthar, to Lilith and to Malebranche at every step of these past few months, and I have had too much of it thrown back in my face.

The Falleen Federation was renowned as a government that liked to call itself pirates when it suited them, and a government when it didn't. Malebranche had agreed not to let itself fall into the same trap the Federation had, of remaining strictly a mobile pirate fleet with no allegiances or treaties. Then the rules started to change, suddenly we were allied with NAO and Astralwerks Engineering, then a few more members started becoming "shadow members", then plans of hijacking another Imperial Star Destroyer. Kulthar Drax was not helping to build a pirate fleet, he was hoping to gain the status of the once-esteemed Eldrick Kuraine, and repeat history with himself as a king challenging the Galactic Empire.

Malebranche was to take no part in the Civil War, it would attack GE and RA ships whenever it suited them, and not worry about buying the favour of either faction. It would attack smaller factions, mining factions, trading factions, mercenaries, rival pirates, it would be a general pirate group. But then that started to change, members of Delta fleet were lectured when they stole several RA ships, they were ordered to remain on friendly terms with the Alliance in preperation for a large joint offensive against the Empire. But this had never been the original plan, we were to be an anarchaotic group, not an RA lapdog. This was supposed to be about fun, not politics.

(OOC: Kuraine has repeatedly flaunted that he feels himself above the rules both of IC loyalty, and of OOC following the rules. He has tried to stab me in the back and kill me IC, and has repeatedly broken the OOC rules to the Combine. This reached a peak last night when I saw the crewlist of one of his ships, and saw a name aboard the ship that never should've been there. Nasium, an account I had talked Kuraine out of using years ago when his cousin left and gave him the password, had been piloting Kuraine's flagship. The implication was immediately clear and sadly there is no other explanation. Kuraine promised me that he would not abuse the XP features, but lied. He had promised me years ago that he would not become an illegal multi, and lied. I cannot abide with people who consistently and repeatedly cheat in what is meant to be a game. This is no different than a game of Monopoly, Chess or Risk; we are playing to have fun, and if somebody who can afford it lands on Boardwalk, moves into Check or fails to fortify Kamchatka, sure, we'll make them pay. But if you are not in the Combine to play a game, have fun and make some friends along the way, you have no business being in my faction. Kuraine is an OOC cheater, and a liar, and I cannot play with someone like that. There is also another reason behind all of this, but it is known to myself, God, and a Raven alone.)
