Kamino System, Abrion Sector -- After a surprise offensive dubbed Operation Lit Beacon, Resistance Military Forces routed Imperial units in the Abrion Sector with additional offensive operations promised to be conducted on Arkanis, Grohl, and Savareen Sectors.
For months prior to Operation Lit Beacon, urban areas across the former New Republics planets have been clogged with mobs of protesters and rioters resisting Imperial rule. Initially, unrest in many sectors were quickly put down by imperial-aligned law enforcement personnel. However, Resistance Special Operations Forces were dispatched early to cripple Imperial infrastructure and coordinate with former-Republic reserve units. As the coordinated resistance movements like ‘Arkanis United’ and the “Free Grohl Now Movement” began to grow, Imperial commanders found themselves besieged and scrambling to respond due to dangerously thin deployments across the sectors.
Abrion is currently the only sector where Imperial forces have been forced to withdraw completely after the daring surprise offensive. Sources from the front lines reported heavy losses in their 7th, 12th, and 13th Brigades, and among their 5th, 7th, and 12th Naval Groups. Reports from Resistance commanders on multiple planets suggest that some worlds were only defended by a handful of garrisons or only a single brigade of stormtroopers. With Imperial forces stretched so thin and their supply lines disrupted, many now believe it is only a matter of time before the occupation of their worlds end, too, even if their systems were not included in the scope of Operation Lit Beacon. Despite initial success, Intelligence reports indicate that other systems and sectors that were deemed more strategically-significant to the Imperial Union maintain larger garrisons, are more adequately supplied, and will be more difficult to uproot. Some analysts suggest that these trends show that the Empire may be consolidating its strength around key worlds and trade hubs, which will entrench their presence in these sectors and prolong the campaign to eradicate them. This said, Resistance Command remains optimistic that most of the systems they are currently invested in will continue to make steady progress in their fight for liberation and will soon regain their freedom.
Records secured from officials on Kamino, Propor I, and Arkanis VIII paint a grim picture of life under Imperial occupation and the intentions of the Imperial Union on their newly annexed worlds. After only two months of occupation, Imperial governors canceled contracts and sanctioned businesses owned by non-human species. On Kamino, many native medical practices have been shut down, supplies seized, and prominent Kaminoian medical researchers and doctors are reported missing. Patrols, checkpoints, and curfews were more strictly enforced in areas where humans make up smaller percentages of the population when compared to human-majority areas. One prisoner even confessed to plans to condemn public housing projects where non-humans lived and remove those citizens to what could only be described as somewhere between internment camps and slums. These discoveries only underline the need for all sentients of goodwill to continue to resist Imperial rule.
Resistance agents embedded with civilian militias and are urging more of the population to rise up with them. Resistance Command has pledged continued aid to denizens and rebel cells alike. Many planets in the region have already found cargo containers filled with food, water, medical supplies, droids, and small arms to resupply areas affected the most by efforts to drive back Imperial forces. Citizens everywhere are urged to keep up their hope and efforts to resist Imperial forces. Stating in numerous holos, “The spark of rebellion has been rekindled. The winds of resistance will fan the flames of hope. You are not alone. Together, we will fight and together we will restore what treachery and wickedness has attempted to rob you. This fight will be long, but the Resistance will see it through. Rebel, Rebuild, Reborn!”
