Berea II Prospects Looking Brighter

Berea II, Elrood Sector Y12, D353 (LBB)-  A light has appeared at the end of the tunnel for the sentients of Berea II, where an ongoing war between the Aurodium Legion and Rogue Squadron is drawing to a close. Across the planet, embattled citizens are picking up the pieces and getting back to their daily lives, hindered by the smoldering memories of the recent atrocities committed by Rogue Squadron in an attempt to tighten their stranglehold on the small, dusty planet.

Following the dissolution of the Federation of Free Alliances, Rogue Squadron struck a deal with its remnants to acquire several strongholds on Berea II and began slowly choking the life out of the planet using unorthodox techniques.  Sending in a force of builders, Rogue Squadron`s first move was to construct ramshackle shanty-towns and force the planet`s population into these cities.  With the planet`s population rounded up, Rogue Squadron`s high command decided to graciously instate a 100% income tax on the imprisoned sentients.  This decision forced every sentient living on Berea II into a life of crime, with even younglings resorting to armed robbery and pickpocketing in order to survive.  Living in these conditions, the beaten but unbroken people of Berea II sent out a desperate plea for help to the Aurodium Legion.

Initially the Legion provided much-needed supplies, housing, and planetary defensive shields to support the downtrodden people of Berea II.  However, when Rogue Squadron received word of these civil improvement projects, they dispatched agents to disrupt their construction through unprovoked attacks- not on the structures themselves, but on the civilian workers. Furthermore, Rogue Squadron agents approached the unemployed people of Berea II, enslaving them to use as human shields, surrounding the support projects to provide cover for the Rogue Squadron execution squads as they executed civilian builders in the streets.

Even after planetary shields were erected by Legion build teams, Rogue Squadron agents hijacked civilian transports traveling to and from the planet to gain access through operational defensive shields, and systematically crippled additional support attempts. Following this brutal campaign, a state of nature took over the once-peaceful Berea II, showing just why the initial call went out for rescue from the inept government. Similar events occurred on distant Gamorr, where Gamorrean builders, known to be some of the strongest builders in the galaxy, had agreed to assist the Legion in remedying Berea II`s plight.

Despite operational defensive shields protecting Gamorr, Rogue Squadron again hijacked civilian transports that had automatic clearance through the shields.  Squadron officials then raided local Gamorr hiring spots, offering jobs to all sentients available to work; those sentients were never seen or heard from again.  Undeterred by these acts of terrorism, the Aurodium Legion continued to improve the lives of the people of Berea II, as more Legionnaires volunteered to assist the sentients there.

Frustrated with the Legion`s progress on Berea II, Rogue Squadron high command member Xavze Zavan, who had long led the Rogue Squadron`s efforts on Berea II, attempted an illegal medical procedure to transplant his mind into the body of a Gamorrean soldier by sacrificing his living body.  This soldier, Rocko Tusker, was seen leading Rogue Squadron forces on Berea II just weeks later.  Interestingly, Tusker/Zavan vanished from the planet days later, suggesting severe side effects from his experimental procedure.

A special moment of silence will be observed for the Legions stalwart defenders lost in the operation, who laid down their very lives for the sake of the people of Berea II.
Praetor Mac Vasco, Optio Xander Ffnargon, Decurion Vosh Omega, and Decurion Aandra Benyamin were arrested, detained, and subsequently executed without a trial on separate accounts while assisting the people of Berea II.

In memory of their self-sacrifice, the people of Berea II have vowed to construct a memorial to those Legionnaires lost in this bloody conflict.  However, even with the tragic loss of these brave lives, there is victory.  Praetor Marcus Blue heroically avoided similar attempts on his life, leading the Legion`s operations planetside for ten months straight.  He selflessly returned to hot zones time and time again to drop in Legion support teams and combat the oppressive fist of the Rogue Squadron.

And finally, after months of toil, the people of Berea II have cast off the shackles of the Rogue Squadron, and embraced their saviors, the Aurodium Legion. The path has been fraught with darkness, but the future for these poor sentients is a bright one.
