A lot of questions have come in about upcoming Combat changes. So I am here to give a rough timeline!

 

Coming Soon: (1 month or less)

  • NPC Bandit/Creature AI Update - Hostile entities will potentially be aggressive following a variety of behavior patterns. Be watching for hostiles as you explore the wilds/build new cities!
  • NPC Patrol Removal - Squads will no longer be able to use the patrol action. This is to allow for better squad AI coming up both on player and NPC side.
  • Freighters (Light and Heavy) enabled in Space Combat - This also includes a wide stat balance which may affect more than just combat abilities

 

Coming in 2-3 Months:

  • Troop Garrisons (Will work similar to Space Garrisons) - These will allow automated and remote use of infantry squads (Droids, NPCs, Creatures) to respond on the ground or inside of rooms of an entity. May include facilities, ships, vehicles, stations as bases for the garrison. Rules will be posted as we approach release of the feature. Any ships or vehicles will need to undergo a delay to "Post up" as a Garrison before remote or automatic response is possible.
  • Player Squad AI changes - This includes things like allowing a squad to guard you from enemies, guarding rooms, and more. Expect a wider ruleset in a month or so.

 

Coming in 4-5 Months:

  • Arrest/Execute will be replaced with global room/ground combat. Events and some special areas will be the only areas with a "No Combat" flag. We will also include a "No Capture" and "No Kill" flag that may be used more loosely. No skill checks will be involved in capture or kill. Once a player is at 1 hp (stunned), they can be captured much like how Arrest works now, but without a skill check. A captured player can then also be killed much like how execute works now. There are currently no plans to allow the arrest of NPCs, Droids, or Creatures at this release. Droid capture will be re-enabled for player-owned droids at this time.

Coming in 6-12 Months:

  • Various actions, such as Asteroid Mining, may trigger bandits to spawn with hostile behavior. This will pause the action and require attention from a player or remote garrison to protect assets.
