The Falleen Federation royal armour is a ceremonial protective garment stemming from the feudal society of the Falleen people. Designed, produced, and maintained by Falleen armourers for generations before the federation of the numerous clans, the armour is steeped in history and tradition. The purple, gold, and black colour scheme dates back to the Galactic Republic era and stems from the patterns and pigments that distinguished members of Falleen noble clans from commoners. These distinctive colours, as well as the stylised outline of the armour itself, make it easily recognisable across the galaxy to those who are familiar with Falleen culture.
Constructed of articulated squares of ornate plasteel laid over a heavily padded ballistic cloth, the armour's ceremonial nature makes it slightly heavier than its modern counterparts with equivalent protection. It boasts a sleeveless design to allow maximum movement, while still protecting the upper and lower torso. The pauldrons serve a dual purpose of shielding the wearer's shoulders and providing support for the paired helmet. Despite its heavier weight and ceremonial functions the armour is reportedly surprisingly comfortable, even after extended periods of wear, and is flexible enough for wearers to retain a relatively high level of mobility.
Given its relatively costly and time-consuming production method, as well as its cultural significance, the Fallen Federation only issues this armour to the prestigious Royal Guard units, leaders and elders of the noble clans and high-ranking members of the Federation government. As such, being granted a set of royal armour is among the highest honours a Falleen can receive and bearers of the armour are shown a great deal of respect by the Falleen people.
