A tripodal droid with a head capped with medical sensors the DD-13 oversaw the roughest medical procedures - originally produced as a prototype to fit aboard emergency medlifts, mobile hospitals complained that its slow speed hampered their ability to reach victims in need of critical care. Rather than update this design flaw, researchers instead simply remarketed the series as a stand-alone assistant for more domestic hospital use where it helped patients quickly recover.
