Bafforr are crystalline trees originally native to Ithor. The trees have smooth glassy trunks of vivid aquamarine, with leaves ranging from a slightly darker aquamarine hue through to night black. The tree’s branches form a sharp, interlocking web. Bafforr tree saplings resemble inverted cones, but grow to resemble the adult trees over a span of several decades. Startlingly, Bafforr trees have a type of group intelligence. Individual trees are not intelligence, but as several trees’ root systems mingle and intertwine, the trees are able to share knowledge and once seven trees do this, a group intelligence will surface. The greater the number of trees that tie into this root network, the greater the intelligence and Bafforr forests are the wisest beings known to Ithorians. Unfortunately, Bafforr trees cannot survive being uprooted, and it is only possible to move them by moving the entire forest, soil included. This is how some Bafforr groves were moved aboard herdships, the Ithorians using large earth-movers to move the entire grove at once.
