A semi-aquatic to fully aquatic fine native to Rodia, Poola Blossom shares a number of physical characteristics with its relative, the Kwazel Candy, in that both plants are long, brown vines with bioluminescent bulbs growing at interval along their length. They also share a similar method of propagation, in that these bulbs, which are a bright purple in the Poola Blossom, need to be ingested by herbivores in order for the gametes to be activated and fertilized. The Poola Blossom plant carries out photosynthesis using a brown pigment analogous to chlorophyll and is capable of prodigious growth rates in the nutrient rich waters of Rodia’s rivers and swamps. Up until the introduction of cheap chemical dyes, the Poola Blossom played an important role in the Rodian textile industry, as the purple pigment from the plant’s bulbs was used to dye the various fabrics used in Rodian fashion. Nowadays, the plant based dye in only used by more isolated and rural communities, although the plant itself remains common in waterways.
