When the Ord Thoden system was discovered, Ord Thoden II was at the closest point in its three year orbit around the system star. Its proximity led discoverers to name the sun after the small, lifeless planet, but, except for that two week span, Ord Thoden II spends more time as the nearest planet to the Ord Thoden sun. The most interest ever shown in the planet occurred when the desert world attempted to have the sun renamed in galactic records. Those living outside Ord Thoden system defeated the effort mainly by ignoring it and Ord Thoden II was quickly forgotten and continued to be frequently confused by grade-school children and drunken navigators with the sun which bears its name.
