Planet: Morjakar
Table of Contents [hide]

Located in the Cularin system, Morjakar is a planet rich in both danger and opportunity. Due to its extreme distance from the system's twin suns, Morasil and Termadus, the planet has a frigid and inhospitable atmosphere. A combination of freezing temperatures, jagged terrain, and highly toxic atmosphere make Morjakar an uninviting world to settle. However, there are many who brave the risks in their quest to tap into the rich resources hiding under the planet's surface. Since the terrain consists of rock and glacier with no natural beauty, it has become a haven for pollution-causing manufacturing since there exists no environment to ruin.

In the past, the planet's natural resources drew many companies and individuals who sought profit. While many settled on Morjakar to exploit its natural wealth, most only discover difficult work that often results in suffering or even death. Once the materials and credits started flowing, however, feuds and conflicts between the different mining factions eventually led to an all-out war for the planet's mining rights. The conflicts decimated most of the mining colonies and, once they were over, the planet was left destroyed and lifeless.

After centuries of inactivity, a local mining company rediscovered the planet's abundant natural resources. After the remaining mining facilities were repaired and upgraded, materials once again began flowing offworld and immediately improved the Cularin system's economy. Civilians began to emigrate to Morjakar for the renewed opportunity, bolstering its population and workforce. To control crime, the planet's authorities maintained strict curfews and poured credits into research to improve the worker's safety and quality of life. Modern technology such as improvements to containment fields helped to mitigate the world's hostile environment, making it an easier place to live. The civilized areas of the planet became relatively safe for the world's inhabitants, while the mining projects brought them a substantial influx of wealth.
