Elantar is located in the Kothlis system, in the Bothan space sector. It is actually a stranded asteroid that was pulled into the Koth’lar sun orbit, and held there, very close to the sun due to its size and weight. Because of it’s past, being an asteroid, it has no atmosphere. Since it has no atmosphere and is so close to the sun it gets extremely hot on the surface facing the sun, and frigid on the surface away from it. This creates a planet that is not suitable for any life forms. If you look closely at the makeup and size of the planet you see that it is mostly desert and very small. The planet is only about ¾ the size of other planets, and only desert.
The people living in the Kothlis system may one day make a small community on this planet, but due to the lack of an atmosphere they would have to constuct massive domes and buildings to protect its citizens from the extreme heat and give them the oxygen they need. There are a couple pioneers into this idea; they have already designed many facilities to make use of this planet. The facilities are mostly domes and such in each of the plans, but there is one that goes in an entirely different direction. They are thinking about building up the planet, and supplying it with imported oxygen to form its own natural atmosphere. This plan, if it works would take care of all the problems on the planet, and instead of only being able to populate one region the whole planet you should be able to populate the entire planet through the atmosphere just like you would any other planet. The planet is slowly moving out of orbit though, unless something is done to keep the planet stationary in orbit then it will one day become another asteroid just floating around space. This would then have two options, go into another system’s orbit, or collide, and destroy another planet. The planets heavy, metal core would easily destroy any planet coming in contact with it making it necessary to take precautions to destroy it itself of keep it in orbit.
