Planet: Embaril
Table of Contents [hide]

Once a glittering emerald of the Tion Cluster with its idyllic hillsides, vividly green grasslands, and crystal-clear blue lakes and oceans, today the planet of Embaril has been transformed into a gleaming ecumenopolis deep within the Tionese heartlands. Its position along the Cadinth Run hyperlane allowed for the world to become an important trade hub over the course of galactic history. Its spaceports are among the busiest in its galactic quadrant and every day thousands of visitors, traders, and merchants pass massive amounts of wealth, cargo, and material through them. The passage of all this wealth is why Embaril's ports are among the most secure and tightly monitored within the local interstellar neighbourhood, as the planetary government allocates significant portions of its budget to the security and oversight of the most vital elements of their global economy.

Embaril was among the first planets in its star cluster to be colonised after the Humans from nearby Tion had established their dominion over that icy ocean world more than twenty-five thousand years ago. Ever since, the once green globe of Embaril switched hands between regional powers many times, such as during its occupation by the Kingdom of Cron, or later during its long membership of the Jaminere Marches. Eventually, the planet joined the Galactic Republic as a member world of the first incarnation of the Tion Hegemony when it received representation within the Senate. During the Great Galactic War, the planet suffered a major setback after a terrorist plot unleashed the Rakghoul plague on a number of Tionese worlds, Embaril included. The global population required a couple of generations to fully recover from the catastrophe, and many point to this event being the defining moment for the world's high-security measures within its spaceports.

The planetary government is run as a constitutional autocracy where the Prince or Princess of Embaril acts as the de jure head of the planet, but who ultimately answers to the rulers of the Tion Cluster. This princely monarch appoints a council of the world's most influential nobles who attend to the day-to-day governance of the population and state apparatus. As much of Embaril's economy relies on automation, its citizens are free to pursue personal development culturally, artistically, or professionally, for which they receive a considerable yearly stipend. This essentially allowed for the elevation of the entire lower class into the middle class of Embarilian society, where poverty and homelessness remain a rare sight
