Uvena I - or otherwise known as Uvena Prime - is one of the old and prospering trade worlds of the Seswenna sector that had greatly benefited from the formation of the Hydian Way super-hyperroute that cuts through the galaxy from north to south. While the planet had once been a globe of sandy dunes, fields of prairie grasslands, treacherously snaking cave systems, and plains of rocky outcroppings and large boulders, today Uvena Prime is a gleaming and bustling ecumenopolis that was gradually built up over the millennia. Despite this, the planet is still home to a number of carefully preserved religious sites and ancient temples, some of which date back to prehistoric times and which are still active places of worship for many of the world's inhabitants. Yet, regardless of the cosmopolitan nature in terms of urbanisation and technological sophistication - such as the cleverly integrated solar panel arrays within the glass windows of its planetwide skyscrapers or the ingeniously designed greenhouse domes on top of many of the ecumenopolis’ buildings - Uvena I is not as politically or economically significant as nearby Eriadu or Seswenna, in large part due to the restrictive trade laws and isolationist policies of the native population.

The lupine Shistavanens, the planet's native species, are a fascinating subject of study due to their wolf-like appearance, enhanced senses, and remarkable physical aptitude. While the Shistavanens share many cultural similarities, there are subtle regional differences that have arisen over time. In the once sprawling deserts of the southern hemisphere, for example, Shistavanen tribes were known for their exceptional hunting skills and nomadic way of life, whereas those in the north were renowned for their craftsmanship and artisanal abilities in metalworking, woodworking, and ceramics. Their historical preference for their own people is a unifying characteristic however, and is best exemplified by how aggressively these lupine humanoids colonised the moons of the two gas giants within the Uvena system, in an endeavour to prevent other races from settling what they considered to be their domain.

Uvena Prime was discovered during the expansion of the hyperlanes in the Seswenna sector roughly four millenia ago. Ever since, the Shistavanens begrudgingly maintained trade ties with their neighbouring systems and interstellar governments, and eventually also the Galactic Republic. Yet, Uvena I never formally applied for membership within the Senate, and remained staunchly neutral during the many conflicts that swept across the galaxy over the course of history. During the Clone Wars, for example, the Shistavanens affiliated themselves with the Council of Neutral Systems but never formally joined the political union. Yet, in recent decades, the younger generations of these people started to travel the hyperlanes and take part in the wider galactic society as scouts, mercenaries, and bounty hunters in light of their natural predatory inclinations. As a result, the current planetary government withdrew some of its most strenuous isolationist policies, and aligned itself with the governing institutions of the Seswenna sector.
