Planet: Malachor V
Table of Contents [hide]

Situated on the fringes of ancient Sith space, what remains of Malachor V is a stark reminder of war and the destruction it brings. Those who look closely upon and around the planet can still make out ancient wrecked ships; those who know of its long and terrible history know better and look elsewhere.

First settled by the ancient Sith, the planet was first used as a centre of learning. Many academies and temples were erected on its surface, though only a structure that later came to be known as Trayus Academy has survived the eras. For reasons not yet understood, the planet was eventually abandoned. There it would remain, lying in wait in the edges of known space, until its rediscovery by the Mandalorians. It was soon declared a taboo world for them, likely due to the permeating influence of the dark side and the horrific storm beasts roaming its surface.

During the Mandalorian Wars, these superstitions were cunningly exploited by the Jedi Knight Revan - who swiftly captured the planet with little resistance. Having defeated Mandalore the Ultimate and thrown Mandalorian leadership into disarray, Revan had the Jedi and Republic forces lure the Mandalorian fleets into the orbit of the planet. It was then that he ordered the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator, a superweapon that amplified the planet's gravity exponentially, sending both the Republic and Mandalorian fleets crashing into it. Thousands of ships crashed into the planet's surface, detonating munitions and hyperdrives alike. Malachor V was torn apart, sending chunks of the once much larger planet out into the system, creating an asteroid field from the previously habitable planet.

This atrocity ended the Mandalorian Wars and gave Malachor V a lasting legacy: it is frequently used as a curse by sentients around the galaxy, the hellish destruction that it is notorious for being something one could only wish on their worst enemies. For those sentients who are of Mandalorian heritage, the world still represents the folly of the Neo-Crusaders. For others, its secrets have been the cause for immense temptation, which has often led to their downfall given the corrupting power and the wounds left in the Force from the destruction of the planet.
