One of three planets in the Roon system, Roon has a mild climate and a breathable atmosphere. Although it has no indigenous intelligent life, Roon was settled millennia ago by colonists from Coruscant and Alderaan who had fled their homeworlds over a religious dispute. Traveling in vast ships it took them several generations to reach Roon, but when they did, they considered this planet at the edge of the galaxy to be the promised land from their religious texts. And for a while, their small society prospered and they were forgotten by the rest of the galaxy. They built expansive cities, using dried mudbrick and decorated them with the many shells found in Roon's bountiful seas. The original colonists had brought along Cracian Thumpers to make their work easier, but within days of the landing, many of these had escaped. Without natural enemies, the creatures were free to roam the heartlands of Roon. As a result, large herds of Thumpers still wander the plains of Roon. By the time the planet was rediscovered, the original religious motives of the colonists were long forgotten and all the records had disappeared. The inhabitants of Roon had even started to believe that they were the only intelligent species in the galaxy. So when an Ithorian scout vessel made contact this caused a great disturbance amongst the population.
