Last Updated: Year 16 Day 364
Planet: Leritor
Table of Contents [hide]

A lush and fertile terrestrial gem, this idyllic world spins around its star Leritor Prime once every 332 standard days. The absence of industrialization has preserved Leritor's natural beauty and speculatively, an abundance of precious raw materials. Twenty percent of the surface is the briny Petra Ocean, gently stirred by the gravitational effect of the companion planet Leritor II. The robust hydrosphere generates frequent rain, which feeds the ocean through the grand Mimura River that is rich in sediments at its estuary. The marine environment is perfect for evolution, and over the eons produced the chitinous Sauvax race. The mainland, while not exactly unexplored, is a vast unspoiled wilderness of damp forests and windswept prairies dominated by rocky, storm-shrouded crags. The tallest of these alpine ranges, the Bleaks, are the source of the great river. The planet's moist, balmy weather and bountiful minerals have permitted life to prosper, from the simplest algae to the great birds in their mountain aeries.

The Krath were the first outsiders to make conquest of Leritor, coming from Manda during the Holy Crusade in 3996 BCGT before continuing on to Ando. It was still dominated by the Sith hundreds of years later when the Galactic Republic routed Darth Gravus in 3640 BCGT, but the system changed hands once again when Gravus returned and crushed the Republic fleet but was himself slain during the battle in a coup by his rival, Darth Karrid. Yet no attempts were ever made to permanently occupy the surface of Leritor until human colonists began to arrive from the Core around 1100 BCGT seeking to escape the upheavals of the Dark Age. The Settlement Pact between the colonists and the native Sauvax enabled the humans to enjoy a nomadic lifestyle, farming the inland plains with their combine-reapers, provided that they respected Sauvax territory and maintained a distance from the coast. This accord was never broken, although a visiting scholar once raided a harvester and a Sauvax village for slave labor to excavate a Sith artifact in the Bleaks. Profex Rynalla made the raids appear to have been conducted by the local inhabitants, but her plot was discovered by mediators, and peace was restored.

Recently, Sauvax tribes have begun to seek more convenient access to offworld merchants and the sophisticated technology they offer. Through the determination of Potentium negotiators, the Sauvax tevelors eventually acquiesced to permit the colonial depot, the only permanent inland settlement, to be relocated to the northern coast. The grand opening of the starport and its Star Tours domestic terminal in the year 22 CGT formally opened Leritor to the galaxy. For the more curious or adventurous Sauvax, the colonial city is now the gateway to galactic civilization.
