Denab, which is the youngest planet in the system of the same name, is also the most habitable. It has a wide variety of self-contained ecosystems, from a broad desert laced with veins of obsidian from ancient lava flows in the southeast, to the Snake River Canyon in the southwest. At one time a corporation of off-world investors attempted to turn the planet into a galactic playground for the exorbitantly rich, only to have their newly constructed spa and fantasy getaway become buried under several feet of ash following a volcanic eruption. In addition to periodic eruptions, over-harvesting of the native Iok tree, a slow-growing hardwood, has left the vast majority of the planet covered in grasslands. The volcanoes have also given the planet rich, fertile soil that has attracted settlers for generations and created pockets of civilization spread across Denab.

Several decades ago, an infamous battle took place in the space above Denab over control of certain agricultural conduits. Charred debris from the battle can still be found across much of the surface, and locals still whisper about an entire cruiser being intact and frozen in one of the northern lava flows.
