Planet: Clak'Dor II
Table of Contents [hide]

One of the many anomalies of the galaxy, Clak’Dor II presents one of the more curious ones. Clak’Dor II is the closest planet to Colu, but it has one of the coldest average temperatures in the system. This is due to an extremely thick, and toxic, atmosphere that blocks almost all the radiation that leaves the nearby star. The atmosphere itself is full of carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and several other elements. There is almost no oxygen on Clak’Dor II and no visible sources of water, including ice.

Despite the rather dangerous atmosphere, the surface is entirely covered with rock, giving it high mining potential. If a corporation was willing to fund a few domed mining complexes, then it would stand to profit a great deal from the endeavor. The only real opposition to the idea is the closeness of Clak’Dor II to the nearby sun. Approaching ships must take a very specific path keeping the planet between it and the star, or risk having its hull stripped off from the radiation. Any ships that survive the approach to the planet, not a difficult task, must then be prepared to deal with an extraordinary drop in temperature shortly after entering the atmosphere.

Because of the lack of heat and toxic atmosphere, there is little plant or animal life on the planet. Considered a dead planet by most, Clak’Dor II is rarely discussed outside of industrial circles and very little information is available.
